The long holiday weekend brings plenty of July Fourth sales at all the major retailers. This holiday is typically a great time for a big-ticket purchase on a new mattress or large appliance, but those aren’t the only opportunities for savings. Seasonal items like patio umbrellas, beach gear, and grills also tend to be discounted. That said, it’s worth noting that there are some big sales coming after July Fourth. Amazon Prime Day, arguably the biggest savings event of the summer, is July 16 and 17, and Best Buy will be running a Black Friday in July sale from July 15 to 17. And the week prior, both Target and Walmart will be running sales as well. Target Circle Week will take place from July 9 to 15, and Walmart+ Week will run from July 11 to 13.

Consumer Reports is tracking deals on the best products we’ve tested in our labs or tried in our homes to help you find what you want and need at a discount for the holiday weekend. And if you don’t see what you’re looking for, we’ll also be scouring the upcoming sales to bring you the best discounts on quality products. So if you don’t see what you want just yet, check our Deals hub.

And, if you’re a CR Digital or All Access member with grilling on the brain, you may want to check out an exclusive deal with Snake River Farms. Follow this link to get a one-time code to save $30 on orders of $149 or more on CR’s top choice for mail-order steaks. (You must be logged in to access your code.)

    Grills

The midsized Weber Spirit Smart Series SX-315 46502401 offers very good overall performance across its three main burners. It has a smaller grill area and less shelf space than some other Webers we’ve reviewed, but it still performs respectably across all our tests—from evenness and indirect cooking to temperature range to convenience. The Spirit grill features Weber Connect WiFi functionality and a temperature probe.

    Still undecided?
CR's expert guidance and unbiased reviews can help you purchase with confidence.

The Monument Grills 77352 is not only a good large grill for the money but also one of the highest-scoring gas grills in our ratings. It earns top marks across our performance tests for heating evenness, temperature range, and preheating, as well as a solid rating for indirect cooking. It comes with an electronic ignition, stainless steel grates, and four casters to make it easier to move around. And while the grill itself has a typical one-year warranty, it includes an eight-year warranty on the six burners.

The Cuisinart CGG-306 is a tabletop propane gas grill with two separate 10,000-Btu burners that offer a wide range of temperatures. It preheats faster than most of its kind, and it’s quite solid at spreading heat evenly across the surface. Weighing just 24 pounds, this compact grill easily fits in any car, making it great for camping trips and picnics. Cuisinart offers a generous three-year warranty.

    Large Appliances

Overall, the Electrolux ELFW4222AW, which is back down to the best price we’ve seen, performs very well across CR’s tests. Its washing performance and water efficiency are excellent, and its energy efficiency, its gentleness on clothes, and the vibration levels during its 65-minute operation earn very good ratings. In our most recent surveys, CR members reported that Electrolux, as a company, had excellent predicted reliability. (Electrolux and LG are the only companies with a compact washing machine to achieve this rating.) But its owner satisfaction score was only midlevel.

This model is part of Bosch’s Benchmark series, which has the brand’s most expensive and feature-packed dishwashers. It does a very good job of both washing and drying, and it’s especially quiet. It also has many of the things you’ll find in higher-end dishwashers, like an adjustable upper rack, a third rack, a stainless steel interior, and adjustable tines. Because the dishwasher is WiFi-connected, you can use an app on your phone to customize where the wash arm goes and how heavily it washes different sections of the dishwasher. One downside, though, is that some cycles—like the delayed-start option—can be initiated only through the app rather than by using the buttons on the machine itself.

The budget-friendly 28-inch Frigidaire FFHT1425VV, now $50 less than during the last big sale, is a great top-freezer for performance. It’s extremely energy-efficient, and it garners solid scores in all other tests except ease of use, where it receives an unsatisfactory rating (although that’s similar to many other top-freezers). According to our latest member survey, Frigidaire top-freezers are reliable, but they have a poor owner satisfaction score.

    Vacuums

The iRobot Roomba i4+ Evo is one of our top-scoring iRobot models and costs a bit less than some of its siblings. It gets high (but not top) marks from our members for predicted reliability and owner satisfaction. It scored very well on all our cleaning tasks and excelled at cleaning bare floors. This robovac uses smart mapping technology to move in a gridlike pattern. Once the vacuum is docked, the debris is automatically sucked into a disposable bag in the base. Replacing the bags, however, is an added expense.

This bagless Shark is one of the cheapest models we’ve tested, but it’s also one of the best. It has a 25-foot cord and weighs about 14 pounds. It receives an equally excellent rating in our carpet and bare-floor tests, and a very good score for removing pet hair. In our member survey, Shark earned very good marks for predicted reliability and excellent ratings for owner satisfaction.

    Outdoor Essentials

Cuisinart’s Cleanburn lives up to its name, beating out some of the better-known options from brands like Breeo and Solo Stove in our tests. It proved equally strong when we built small or large fires, and its rounded bottom helped ensure one of the most efficient burns from any model, with minimal cleanup.

The Grand Patio umbrella typically costs $350, but the on-page coupon puts it just about $20 above its lowest price. This umbrella got above-average scores in CR’s tests for ease of use and assembly, but it is a little less rigid than higher-scoring models.

    Oileus XL Beach Tent

The Oileus beach tent, which typically costs $60 to $65, was the runner-up in CR’s evaluations, thanks to the ease of setting it up and taking it back down. It’s large enough for two adults and two kids. It takes less than 2 minutes to set up, and just about 4 minutes to pack up at the end of your beach day. And on windy days, you can fill its six pockets with sand to keep it in place. Perhaps the best part is it weighs only 4 pounds, making it convenient to schlep from the car to the beach and back.

Other colors may vary slightly in price.

    Mattresses

The Casper Snow, a newcomer to CR’s ratings, is one of the least heat-retaining mattresses we’ve tested, making it great for those who sleep hot. It’s also an all-around high-performing pick. Combining pocketed coils with layers of foam, this hybrid is particularly supportive for petite back sleepers but is also well suited for side sleepers of all sizes and for the average back sleeper. Large/tall sleepers may want to look elsewhere. With a firmness rating of 4 out of 10, it’s on the softer side. Its solid stability rating means sleepers are unlikely to feel vibrations from a partner’s movements.

If you buy directly from Casper, use the code JULYPRIVATE through July 10 to get an extra 5 percent off (the full discount is reflected above).

The Tuft & Needle Nod mattress-in-a-box is still available for the best price of the year. The innersprings topped with foam deliver impressive support to all types and sizes of sleepers, from petites to large and tall. The durability is top-notch, with little in the way of sagging, softening, or damage in eight years of simulated use. This model is highly stable, though it does not resist bounciness, a potential drawback when a sleeper changes position.

    Small Kitchen Appliances

This compact and inexpensive Cosori air fryer isn’t for huge batches of food, but its 1.7-quart measured basket can air-fry, roast, bake, and reheat food well. Its digital controls are easy to use, and it’s simple to clean (it’s dishwasher-safe), but its biggest perk is that it’s especially quiet. When we set the temperature to 350° F, its recorded temperature was a bit lower at 335° F, but you can adjust a little to accommodate this. It comes with a two-year warranty, which is more generous than the one-year warranty that comes with most air fryers.

The Ninja Twisti High Speed Duo’s intelligent programs and five push-button functions eliminate guesswork while blending or pulsing soups, smoothies, frozen drinks, spreads, and more. The 1,600-watt power blender has hybrid-edge chopping and crushing blades, a built-in twist tamper, and a removable drizzle cap that allows ingredients and ice cubes to be added while processing. If you like hearty soups and tasty smoothies, this slightly noisy blender might be for you.

This self-cleaning countertop icemaker makes nine bullet-shaped ice cubes in just 6 minutes. Two of the coolest aspects of this machine are that you can make large or small ice cubes and that it has a self-cleaning function. It comes in seven shades—black, black transparent, green, red, silver, stainless steel, and white—but only the black model is discounted below $100 right now.

    Electronics

If you love your gym but hate the music it plays, the updated Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II may be just what you’re looking for. These true wireless earbuds get top marks for noise cancellation, which you can turn up or down to suit your environment. They also deliver very solid sound quality, though they fall a bit short of the best-sounding noise-canceling earbuds. Appealing features include flexible sound equalization and built-in tech that the company says makes it easier to hear your own voice during phone calls. Bose advertises a 6-hour battery life (we don’t test that), and the case can recharge the headphones twice on the go.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8+ is a workhorse, earning a spot among the top non-Apple tablets CR has tested. It’s a great option if you want a tablet with a large 12.4-inch screen. It does have a shorter battery life than most, at just 7.3 hours for web browsing. It also has expandable storage with a built-in micro SD reader, and it gets high scores for performance, convenience, and versatility.

The 43-inch Amazon B09N6LRBTR is down to a new low price, beating the previous best by $10. It is a new Omni Series set that—unlike older, smaller Omni TVs—supports Dolby Vision HDR. This set does well in our tests, especially for 4K UHD picture quality, but like most of the Omni TVs we’ve tested, it lacks sufficient peak brightness to produce a compelling HDR experience. This model supports Amazon’s new “ambient” feature, which lets the TV display artwork and photos when you’re not watching TV programming.
