NJ Advance Media (NJAM) has launched a new website dedicated to New Jersey’s extraordinary diversity across its communities.
Called Mosaic, the site’s mission is to celebrate the richness of the state’s diverse cultures, amplify voices often muted by media, strengthen bridges across our communities, and foster meaningful conversation and community engagement through compelling storytelling.
The Mosaic team is led by Ronnie Agnew, General Manager of NJ Advance Media. Robin Wilson-Glover is Director of Mosaic and Ande Richards is Managing Producer, Diversity of Voices. A variety of experienced NJ.com journalists and guest columnists contribute to the content, and a weekly newsletter provides the most popular stories in subscribers’ inboxes.
“We are all knitted together by New Jersey’s diversity,” says Agnew. “We are committed to telling stories that reflect that diversity and to providing a platform for those who have been underrepresented in traditional media. Our state is special, and it is Mosaic’s intent to help all citizens realize how important they are to each other.”
Mosaic gives readers news and information about communities of color, the LGBTQ+ community, veterans, people living with disabilities, and others. The team’s goals for the site are to bring light to social justice issues – speaking for those who feel they have no power or voice – but also to celebrate the good happening in communities across the state.
Examples of the featured unique and diverse topics on Mosaic:
- Black churches get historic funding to safeguard their legacy
- Football is for everyone and these 2 high schools prove it
- Meet N.J.’s first Indian-American and Sikh woman mayor
- What it means to be 80
