Verner (or Ferner or Perner)[1] was an Aedirnian mercenary hired by the Ofieri mage Aamad and his squad.
Biography[]
The Ofieri in fact, started a journey from their country to Oxenfurt to find their prince and lift the curse from him. Once in Oxenfurt, Verner paid Phelippe Calagrande, an inhabitant of the city, to lead him and the Ofieris through the sewers to the prince's nest.
When they arrived in the sewers, the witcher Geralt had just slain the toad monster, not realizing he'd been a cursed prince. Geralt was then kidnapped by the group and they set sail to Ofier with Verner in tow to at least bring their prince's killer to their king. However, a storm struck out of nowhere and they were shipwrecked just north of Novigrad, forcing the group to walk along the shore to find alternative transportation. As Verner carried the witcher's two swords, Geralt awoke and, in his escape, killed Verner.
