Dragonfly (Polish: Ważka) was a vedymin from the school in Stygga, which for some time served as a seat of the now-nomad School of the Cat.
Biography[]
Born in Tower of the Winds to imprisoned duchess Dairida, Dragonfly was to be murdered by order of her usurper uncle Ponderic. However, when Ponderic's servant ordered to kill the baby saw it, he decided to instead abandon it alive on Gemmeran coast. A Cat witcher travelling nearby took the baby to Stygga, not realizing it was the same child he had been earlier promised by her father via the Law of Surprise.
Dragonfly was trained as a proper witcher. When she was 15 years old, the school was visited by her brother who urged her to come with him and dethrone the usurper. She eventually agreed, perhaps under the influence of elder witchers.
Later on, her brother found Dragonfly safe in Stygga Castle among the witchers of the School of the Cat.
After a hardy battle, Dragonfly's clothing was ripped, revealing her naked back and a strange old tattoo on her skin. The shape was deformed but still resembled Gemmera's coat of arms. All her life, Dragonfly believed that the mark was just an ugly deformation after the Trials she underwent during her witcher training. Instead, a clue Dairida left her children - she tattooed on newborn's skin a map of one of the provinces of the country, with a single dot marking a spot, leading them to the shrine dedicated to Coram Agh Tera, The Cult of the Lionheaded Spider.
