An amulet or talisman is form of magical "automaton" which can cast spells, whether automatically or activated on order. There are several types of such items: they can be jewelry (rings, necklaces, medallions, diadems), seemingly ordinary elements of clothing (hats, belts, gloves), seemingly ordinary pieces of equipment (sticks, staffs, wands, keys), ordinary objects (pebbles, shells, bones and teeth, pieces of glass), as well as many, many more. Amulets are divided into those that can be used by anyone who has them and knows how to activate them, and those that can be used only by mages.[1]
