IEC database structures and content are protected by copyright and other rights, such as database rights. A user is permitted to access elements from an IEC database within the user’s organization for free or on payment of a fee. Database elements such as graphical symbols intended to be on equipment for commercial sale may be applied to a user’s equipment provided the user has paid any necessary fee to access the database. When elements from an IEC database are used, IEC must be referenced as the source and, where practicable, a link to the reference in the database must be included, for example in supporting material for equipment. Replication of all or a substantial part of an IEC database is subject to a commercial arrangement with the IEC.

Electropedia (IEV)
While Electropedia’s structure and content are subject to copyright and other rights, such as database rights, we encourage the use, referencing and citation of Electropedia for the purpose of identifying or clarifying the meaning of electrotechnical concepts, terms and symbols and their use in manuals, diagrams and equipment. In return for this permission, we ask that IEC is referenced as the source and, where practical a link to the reference in the database is included. For users wishing to reproduce substantial parts or all of Electropedia for commercial use, please contact the IEC.
