The Wario franchise is a spin-off of Nintendo's Mario franchise. Wario made his first appearance in the game Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins on the Game Boy in 1992. Then, in 1994, Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 was released for the Game Boy, starting the Wario franchise. The Wario franchise primarily consists of two separate series, Wario Land and WarioWareWario Land is a series of platforming games starring Wario, usually in the hunt for treasure. WarioWare is a series of microgames compilations created in-universe by Wario and friends in the desire to make money. As of December 2022, the Wario franchise has sold over 22.81 million copies worldwide.

  • Wario Blast: Featuring Bomberman! is only branded as part of the Wario franchise in the west, as it is a re-skinned version of Bomberman GB, which was released in Japan in August 1994.
