In the modern world of work, where complex challenges are the norm, new approaches to leadership are needed for success. Here are six things we think contribute to being a good leader. 🗣️ Remember what makes a good leader in the first place - There may be varying opinions on the strengths and weaknesses of leaders but overall, most people believe that great leaders motivate their team members to perform their best and achieve common goals. 🛠️ Use these core skills - Pattern recognition, motivation, agility, emotional intelligence and the ability to understand, control and express emotions, are key. 🤝 Create a culture of trust - Gaining workers’ trust is more important than ever. In a poll by the Edelman Trust Barometer, 71% of employees considered their CEOs’ social awareness as critically important. Workers who trust their employers are far more engaged and remain loyal. 👥 Adapt your style for different generations - Modern workplaces can house up to five generations under one roof. Different generations will appreciate different leadership styles. Mixing old and new leadership styles is a must. 🎓 Commit to lifelong learning - Leaders who understand the future as well as those with experience will be the most successful. With the workplace evolving at great pace, you cannot just rely on past experience to get by. 🤔 Consider the company culture - Leaders may be fearful of a backlash from stakeholders should novel thinking fail at more risk-averse organisations.
