In December Etsy scrapped its CMO role and merged its marketing and operations teams then last month appointed its first chief brand officer. This restructure signals not only that Etsy is doubling down on brand marketing, but that it wants its brand communications to be backed up its operations. Its new CBO Brad Minor tells The Drum that he works closet with the policy and product leads - a very unusual set up for a marketing team. “It’s less about creating shiny, polished imagery that is devoid of substance. Instead its what is the substance to customer buyer experience we’re creating? WHY'D WE HAVE TO GO AND MAKE THINGS SO COMPLICATED? We've got a new marketing campaign and it might just be the most complicated thing anyone's ever done. For the first time ever, The Drum has revealed how their World Creative Rankings are shaping up halfway through the year, and we’re delighted to see three FCB offices among the Top 20 Agencies for 2024 so far! FCB New York has raced to the provisional top spot thanks to three campaigns scoring highly among award juries – “Lap of Legends” and “Dreamcaster,” both for AB InBev’s Michelob ULTRA, and “Spreadbeats” for Spotify, which won the Digital Craft Grand Prix at Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity last month; FCB Chicago has climbed a staggering 159 places to be sitting in 13th place after a strong start to the year, also taking home a Cannes Lions Grand Prix in Health & Wellness for “The Last Barf Bag” for Dramamine; and FCB Canada rounds out our Top 20 trio in 15th place.
