Somerset House reposted this
Dramatherapist and Award-Winning Founder & CEO of Deya, who talks about equity in the creative industries.
On Tuesday I was fortunate enough to attend a dinner celebrating Mentor Black Business and Somerset House's Black Business Residency, sponsored by Morgan Stanley. I was part of their 2nd cohort in 2022 with my first baby Uproot Productions, and earlier in the year Deya was recognised with a £10K award for the growth we’ve undertaken since the programme. Programmes like this make all the difference for entrepreneurs like myself. Having this backing so early on defined our journey and inspired trust and subsequent support from other organisations. It was a joy to be surrounded by inspiring individuals such as Akil Benjamin, Sade Banks-Tubi, Aliyah Hasinah & AARON RAYBE, to name a few. And a special shoutout to Tatale for the mouthwatering 4-course meal! #SomersetHouse #BlackBusinessResidency #EntrepreneurshipJourney #GrowthMindset

🙌 There's still time to apply for this year's placements! https://lnkd.in/erfmE6hW).
It is hard to believe that I started on the Upgrade Yourself: Creative Industry Placements over a year ago now! My time at Somerset House has been incredible and completely changed the course of my career. I also met some brilliant friends in Fynley Dobson, Ailinn Santos, Ekam Hundal and Joseph Browning. Applications are now open for the next year of the programme for underrepresented young people looking to break into the arts. I'm so excited that the Live Events team who I worked for as part of my second placement are hosting a young person again. They are an incredible group of people and it is a role which taught me so much about the events industry, teamwork and myself. If anyone is thinking of applying and has any questions about the Production Assistant position or the programme more broadly, please do get in touch with me! Thanks to Sophie Harley for managing this programme so brilliantly 💚 Information about all the placements and how to apply can be found here: https://lnkd.in/eaUF2NMU
