Jodie Foster, True Detective: Night Country
WHY SHE DESERVES A NOD: The Oscar winner took on her first regular TV role in a half-century (!) in Season 4 of HBO’s crime anthology… and it was worth the wait. As Alaska police chief Liz Danvers, Foster was a tough nut to crack, snapping at co-workers and keeping everyone at arm’s length. But as the case began to hit home, Danvers let her guard down, and Foster was mesmerizing as she painstakingly revealed the layers of pain beneath Danvers’ hard outer shell. We just hope we don’t have to wait another 50 years for an encore. — Dave Nemetz
Jodie and Jessica Lange for sure. Also Kali Reis if she’s running for Lead as well.
What about Joey King for We Were the Lucky Ones?? She was amazing in it.
Carla Gugino was brilliant Fall in house of Usher.. Carla deserves a Emmy!! Carla is always skipped, this is not the 1st. Role that she acted brilliantly but never acknowledged as a brilliant actress.
Carla Gugino is one of the great, mostly unsung heroes (at least come awards time) of acting over the last twenty five years or so; she’s been so good in so many projects, yet she has yet to really get that “breakout” role that would plant her firmly on the A-list (though she’s always had A-list talent).
Where’s Naomi Watts for Feud: Capote vs. The Swans? She was incredible in that!
I’d put my money on Juno Temple winning this.
Juno or Jodi. But I agree with the comment about Joey. She was AMAZING!!!
Well I will watch anything with Carla Gugino in it. I would vote Juno Temple . She And Jon Hamm brought Fargo back to life.
