Cozumel is an island off the eastern coast of Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula that is featured as the first location in Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

Lara Croft and Jonah Maiava visit Cozumel island to learn more about Trinity. Lara found the Key of Chak Chel and when she pulled it, it started the end of the world. Cozumel was hit with a massive tidal wave, destroying all the seaside settlement and killing numerous people.
The level also introduced us to the return of the eels, last seen in the Gameboy Color version of Tomb Raider, released in 2000, and originating from Tomb Raider II, released in 1997.
