In one word: Tedious. This game felt like a chore and was the first ND game I had to keep forcing myself to play.

I played 95% of the game in "classic" mode, and it was an incredibly frustrating and buggy experience. Unfortunately, modern mode made me motion sick too often (cybersickness affects women very frequently - especially with VR/motion simulator games, which is why I'm incredibly disappointed that HERinteractive put out a game like this). I also encountered glitches (several in the alchemy room ) that forced me to restart the game from the last save mode- unacceptable for a game that's $32 and has been out for a few months. There were also a couple of "illogical" puzzles I encountered. Despite the solution being logically correct, the game was not programmed to accept it, forcing me to look up walkthroughs online to determine the acceptable solution.

While I appreciated the inclusion of history, a favorite aspect of the older games, this game lacks the immersive qualities and coziness that made games 1 - 32 so enjoyable. The 3D Sims-like graphics, lack of unique art direction, repetitive soundtrack, clunky navigation, forgettable characters, unintuitive puzzles, and largely uninspired voice acting all contribute to this departure. Even Prague's fascinating location couldn't save this game from feeling lackluster.

The writing and storyline were decent, and I appreciated the references to the old games, but the pacing of this game was slow, and I found myself wishing for a more straightforward story. In an attempt to modernize the franchise, this game (and 33) have lost the charm that made the older games so unique. The careless copy+pasted NPCs only added to the sterility of the game, a stark departure from the cozy and immersive experiences of the past.

It's not a game I'll replay anytime soon; I'll keep replaying 1 - 32 and hoping that HERinteractive can go back to what it did so well - simple, cozy, inspiring, and unique games that an 8 or 35-year-old can play and be charmed by; or 2.5D art direction that inspires players for decades to come; or at least games that don't make their target audience motion sick. :(

The game is incredibly glitchy and runs terribly. Puzzles are incredibly obtuse and unfun, the setting is barren and lifeless, and the npcs could not be less interesting. Corners were cut in just about every way possible, from npc interactions (you text a lot of npcs instead of calling, I guess they couldn't be bothered to have the VAs record more lines), to connecting plot threads to make a cohesive story, to providing context and clues to solve puzzles. Overall I'm very disappointed. My friends and I have played just about every classic Nancy game and this one feels like it was made in a rush by people without any love for the series, genre, or audience.

DON'T DO IT
