Multiversus is a game that, at it's current state, shouldn't be played by anyone but those that sunk way too much time into it during pre-release Beta.

Rifts, their PvE game mode, are an uninteresting time sink chore with mediocre rewards at best, and an uninspired circular logic self-justifying money grab that did not need to exist in this game at all. It's been heavily criticized, and will continue to be, because it deserves to be.

PvP is really the highlight of Multiversus, but it also has some serious issues that kept it from being the game we thought it would be upon release.

First, 90% of all new characters released have been comically easy to play, and far too powerful. My optimism told me that it's just the result of lacking proper data sample sizes to understand how to balance the characters properly, but it seems more likely this far into release that it's deliberate and they're following League of Legends monetization scheme.

New character is OP and causes outrage > 70% of player base cant afford to not play the new character because they're average players and not good enough to outplay / out skill blatant OP > lots of players buy the character and have fun for about 3 months > sales drop off and the character is finally balanced > there is a 1-2 month time gap before the next character is released and the cycle repeats

It's an unbelievably greedy way of managing a game, and abusive to the players that prop up your game.

Scummy business tactics aside, the actual combat boils down to a tremendous amount of spamming multi-hit attacks and vertical attacks.
Horizontal combat is severely lacking in comparison, to the point that it seems like Player First Games doesn't know how to balance or design their roster without the majority of that roster having a tremendous ability to juggle and fight in the air.
You will see both multi-hit, and verticality, used in extreme abundance in almost every single match that you play. The only exceptions to this are extreme, with characters that focus so primarily on horizontal combat (maybe 2 of them) that they can walk you across the stage with very little counter play if they know what they're doing.

Combine all of this with connectivity problems, disconnects, stuttering, de-sync that happen very frequently even with extremely good internet, and the fact that a large chunk of the character roster are some of the weirdest, lame, zero hype characters that Warner Brother owns, I recommend letting this mess cook for at least another year before seriously diving into it.

I mean really. Banana Guard, Stripe, Gizmo, Garnet, and Steven Universe? Out of all the Warner Brother properties that exist.. you pick them? They were a waste of development cost, and move kits that could've gone to other characters at some point down the line. How in the world was BANANA GUARD in the game before AGENT SMITH?

If you're an old Beta player, you probably won't hate it. Maybe you should. If you're not an old Beta player, steer damn well clear. It's truly an unusual feat to have a game become worse after it's "finished" and released.
