Gorgeous and tight gameplay. Void dagger my beloved

This game is a lot of fun. I love how smooth and precise the controls are. The game is quick and there are a lot of unique enemies with different movement and attack patterns.

This is a fantastic twin-stick shooter roguelike that follows a progression pattern similar to Dark Cells. You can unlock various permanent upgrades by progressing far enough in runs and taking specific paths. Every run gets you some currency that can unlock various other minor permanent boosts like extra max health, extra healing items, extra rerolls of drops, etc. Overall, the progression and gameplay loop are standard fare.

Where this game shines is in its combat. Definitely in part a bullet hell, this game features some tight combat with fine tuned controls. You have a basic weapon (of which there are many options available), that comes with a basic shot type and a "glitch" shot type, which is effectively an ability that charges during combat when you hit enemies. It charges rather quickly and is significantly more powerful than your basic attack, encouraging you to use it often. On the side of this, you also have a gravity gun, which drags smaller enemies and debris in every area in, and you can shoot it out as a projectile not unlike Half-Life 2's Gravity Gun. Over the course of a run it can be upgraded to grab larger things, too, and there's a permanent upgrade that allows it to rip off parts of enemy ships and disable some of their abilities, which is very neat and fun to do.

The major negative right now is simply that the game is a lot of bones, with no meat. There are not many run-length upgrades, and during even my first large run I started to run low on the upgrade pool, to the point where a reroll actually just changed the order of things on me once. The areas all feel exactly the same with no diversity beyond enemy type (and I guess the sprite used for the debris, if that really matters). Every region you enter is some form of circle, the only difference is the size. Roguelike-style variety simply isn't there.

That all being said, this review is still a recommend because these things are to be expected of an Early Access game. Everything is here for an amazing game and I suspect it will be with some more of everything it provides.
