Usagi na Panic – PC-98 – Nihon Softec (1995)
Hoo, boy, do I love Konami’s Yume Penguin Monogatari, the Japan-only Famicom game showcased in the screenshot above.
Admittedly, its backstory and overall message are far from politically correct, but if you can ignore those cringeworthy aspects, Yume Penguin Monogatari is a joy to behold.
To learn more about this Famicom game, and to see some photos of its stunning packaging (outer box, cartridge and instruction manual), read this blog post of mine: “A few photos (and words) that hopefully showcase why I consider Yume Penguin Monogatari to be my second-favorite example of Famicom box art”
Also, check out this blog post if you’d like to see scans of Yume Penguin Monogatari’s manual.

Although the Penguin-kun Wars Vs. GameBoy manual isn’t as stellar (in terms of design) as the game’s outer box or cartridge label, it’s still pretty darn nice.
To see what I mean, check out my latest blog post, “Manual Stimulation: Penguin-kun Wars Vs. (GameBoy),” which contains scans of the entire Penguin-kun Wars Vs. instruction booklet.
