If you’ve been holding out for Amazon Prime Day next week, I’m giving you the green light to start discount hunting now during Walmart’s July Deals event. It’s the retailer’s biggest savings promotion of the year, and I’ve found markdowns across several categories ranging from tech and kitchen to home and fashion. The sale runs through Thursday, July 11, and is open to all shoppers, though Walmart+ members received early access on Monday to browse these deals before everyone else. (It’s worth noting that a one-year membership for Walmart+ is 50 percent off right now, bringing the original price of $99 down to only $49, in case you want to plan ahead for next year.)

Instead of rummaging through hundreds of sales bins, I’ve carefully selected the best Strategist-approved items to shop now. Below, you’ll find Dyson’s cordless vacuum with laser illumination, a powerful Vitamix blender that’s designed to fit easily under your cabinets, and back-to-school supplies for students of all ages.

Best Tech Deals

The tech section is bursting with some very good deals, a.k.a. tons of Apple products at around 20 to 30 percent off. My top pick is the Apple AirTags: I use them to keep track of my house keys and even put them inside my luggage for some peace of mind when I’m traveling.

Best Vacuum & Cleaning Deals

As someone who can’t go a day without using my Dyson cordless vacuum, I was excited to find not one but two models on sale. The V15 Detect I’ve linked below is similar to our top vacuum for small spaces, but even better suited for heavy-duty cleaning sessions.

Best Kitchen Deals

I spotted plenty of discounted appliances in the kitchen section. The notables include Vitamix’s powerful 6500 blender, which has a 64-ounce container for medium to large batches, and a sleek knife block from J.A. Henckels, the more affordable sister brand to Strategist-approved Zwilling.

Best Clothing & Shoe Deals

I must admit I wasn’t super impressed with the fashion section, though I managed to find some solid items (almost all around 40 percent off). There are some vintage-inspired Levi’s and a pair of platform clogs, which are similar to the cushy tie-dyed ones Ally Maki can’t live without.

Best Kids’ Clothing & Shoe Deals

Even more Crocs are on sale in the kids’ clothing department, plus lots of kid-friendly denim from The Children’s Place, now around 50 percent off.

Best Back-to-School Deals

For those who want to get back-to-school shopping over and done with, here are the supplies I recommend adding to your cart. The InkJoy gel pens will be excellent for journaling or color-coding notes during class.

The Strategist is designed to surface useful, expert recommendations for things to buy across the vast e-commerce landscape. Every product is independently selected by our team of editors, whom you can read about here. We update links when possible, but note that deals can expire and all prices are subject to change.
