Last week Sebastian Peck, Partner at KOMPAS VC attended Tech Tour Circular 2024 for the first time. The event took place in the beautiful city of #Ghent showcasing the massive potential of Flanders to become a hub of innovation for hard-to-abate industries. The region with its massive North Sea Port and heavy industrial base has created a great ecosystem comprising the local universities and companies like ArcelorMittal and Heidelberg Materials who are experimenting with innovative ways to promote a more circular economy in the region for products like cement and steel. Sebastian acted as a judge for the #Chemistry and #Plastics pitching competition alongside several experts, including Nele Ameloot, PhD , Dr. Jens Busse, Koen Iterbeke, Marc Leduc, Brigitte Mouligneau, Nicolas Raupp , Tatjana Schwabe-Marković, and Klaus Wohnig Atmedio GmbH. The judges reviewed a range of pitches, with notable ones from Gavin Duffy (FRE Technologies), David Strittmatter (ICODOS), Roger O. (Mevaldi), Toni Luomaranta (Origin by Ocean), Kim De Nolf (QustomDot), Shailendra Vyakarnam (TerraWaste (Techstars '22), and Jeroen Glansdorp (Veridis).
