The MIX recently celebrated its 10th anniversary.  The team had its first GDC week showcase at IGN’s San Francisco office in March, 2012. The MIX has expanded with a variety of formats, programs and initiatives with a continuing focus on raising visibility, discoverability and celebrating amazing games and the talented people who create them.

Onsite Showcases

Developers and publishers can share their games with journalists, streamers and industry folks from around the world.

Many of the industry’s top independent developers have shown their games at MIX events to help create visibility for their projects. Top journalists, streamers and industry contacts regularly attend MIX events to discover interesting new games.

MIX online showcases have been regularly expanding, reaching millions of viewers, helping publishers and developers share game announcements, news and reveals with gamers everywhere.

What is The MIX?

The MIX was created by independent game developers and game enthusiasts to help teams build relationships with press, publishers, distribution channel & platform leads and industry professionals through a variety of showcases and events.

Fees

Charges to developers off-set hard costs we incur for running these programs and the team’s time, and also help in expanding with new programs to drive more visibility and awareness for indies.  We keep these fees as low as possible for indie developers with limited budgets.

How does it work?

The MIX team organizes all logistics for the showcases – production, venue, fixtures, electricity, signage, guest lists, set up/breakdown for onsite events, and more.

Prior to each event, we post information for developers interested in submitting their games for consideration and for guests interested in attending (when relevant for evening receptions.)

We then provide set up and admission instructions for those we confirm for each event.

What’s the selection process for games that present at MIX events?

Our team reviews all submissions to identify the best fits for each event.  We look for fresh ideas, high-quality executions, fun gameplay and unique angles, and for representation of games across a range of platforms and devices.  While games periodically showcase through more than one MIX, we strive to keep the line up as diverse as possible, minimizing repeats.  While visitors to and viewers of MIX showcases enjoy seeing games that have gained buzz and acclaim, they also appreciate opportunities to see cool games that they’d never seen of or heard about before.
