Notes
- Wanda Maximoff appears next in the film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
- The Darkhold has appeared in previous Marvel Cinematic Universe series; the fourth season of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and the third season of Marvel's Runaways. However, it had a different exterior design.
Trivia
- Wanda uses a couple of her previous tactics when fighting Agatha Harkness, such as launching a car at her from behind, like she did with Iron Man in Captain America: Civil War, as well as using time manipulation to quickly sneak up to Agatha to implant her with a vision, just like she did with the Avengers, in Avengers: Age of Ultron.
- After launching a car at Agatha, Wanda discovers only Agatha's boots are what remain under the rubble. This is a reference to The Wizard of Oz, where Dorothy and her house crash land in Oz, on the Wicked Witch of the East, and the only thing that remains of the Witch are her ruby slippers.
- Later, the theater marquee briefly depicts the film title Oz the Great and Powerful, which is a prequel to The Wizard of Oz directed by Sam Raimi, who is also the director of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Wanda's next on-screen appearance.
- Ralph Bohner's surname is a direct reference to Andrew Koenig's character Richard "Boner" Stabone on the sitcom Growing Pains.[1]
- When the constructs of Vision, Billy, and Tommy begin to deform, the effect is similar to the dematerialization effect used throughout House of M.
- The shot of Wanda and Vision's family taking a heroic stance against the S.W.O.R.D. agents is an homage to a similar shot in The Incredibles, a film about a superhero family, which was referenced on the theater marquee in the series' sixth episode.
- When Tommy disarms the SWORD agents of weapons, he even steals a SWORD hat. Coincidentally, Evan Peters (who portrays Ralph / "Pietro Maximoff") pulled the same move on Pentagon security guards as Quicksilver / Peter Maximoff in the film X-Men: Days of Future Past.
- The shot of Vision tearing up is an homage to the iconic panel of Vision tearing up from Avengers #58, a story entitled "Even An Android Can Cry."
- The post-credits sequence shows Wanda isolated in a cabin out in the wilderness, as she studies to gain control of her powers. This is similar to the ending scene of The Incredible Hulk, where Banner is shown isolated in a cabin in the British Columbia, as he meditates to gain control of the Hulk; the scene is also similar to the image of Thanos sitting on the porch of his cabin on 0259-S in the ending scene of Avengers: Infinity War.
- The music playing as Wanda astral projects is similar to the theme of Doctor Strange in the film Doctor Strange, where astral projecting was first introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
