History

Tenebrous of the Darkness Between emerged at the dawn of the universe along with the other Proemial Gods and he maintained the "Black," the living matter that binds the universe and makes it whole. Along with Aegis, Lady of All Sorrows and most of the other Proemial Gods, Tenebrous was corrupted by Diableri of Chaos. He was defeated by Galactus and imprisoned in the Kyln with Aegis.[1]

Eons later, Tenebrous and Aegis were freed by Annihilus' forces with the destruction of the Kyln. They captured the Fallen One, a former Herald of Galactus, though he was serving Thanos at the time.[2] They then encountered Thanos, who convinced them to defeat Galactus along with the Silver Surfer and deliver them to Annihilus for experimentation.[3][4] After the events of the Annihilation Wave, Tenebrous and Aegis returned to the Kyln, discovering the corpse of their fellow God, Antiphon the Overseer. Galactus and the Silver Surfer had escaped from containment; the Silver Surfer engaged both Tenebrous and Aegis in battle and managed to channel the energies of the nearby Crunch, the barrier that separates the universe from the Negative Zone. Overwhelmed by the Crunch's energies, Tenebrous and Aegis were both seemingly killed.[1]

However, he and Aegis both survived their encounter with the Surfer, as they reappeared with Galactus and the Celestials to oppose the forces of the Cancerverse at the Fault.[5] While Aegis was killed in the war,[6] Tenebrous survived and his current whereabouts and activities are unknown.[7]
