Khan's Invasion[]

X-Treme X-Men Vol 1 11 Textless

Before assuming Storm's form

Shaitan was the leader of Khan's combat troops. When Khan prepared his forces to invade Earth, Shaitan was sent to retrieve the Madripoor Set of gemstones to serve as a beacon for the upcoming invasion. Gambit had interest in collecting the Madripoor Set as well, which made him a target for Shaitan. After Gambit had met the possessor of one of the gems, Storm, Shaitan attacked Storm's X-Men and kidnapped Gambit, taking him to Madripoor. Shaitan successfully tied Gambit to an altar in an ancient temple, where Gambit's energy-based powers cast a giant tower that served as a portal to Khan's invasion.[1] During the invasion, Khan went missing, and Shaitan had his army kill Madripoor's forces in retaliation. As Shaitan fought the X-Men, he learned Khan had been captured by them. However, the X-Men were ignorant that Khan was the leader of the invasion. As Khan revealed his true identity, he ordered Shaitan to send for Storm, who Khan wished to be his new queen.[2]

In Khan's tower, Shaitan professed his concern about Storm being a dangerous woman. Nevertheless, Khan decided to keep her, and forced Khan to assume her form in order to trick the X-Men into believing Shaitan was the real Storm in case they came to her rescue. Thanks to Sage's abilities as an analyst, the X-Men were never tricked by the masquerading Shaitan.[3] When Vargas started to kill Khan's combatants in Madripoor in an attempt to assassinate Rogue, Shaitan intervened to save his soldiers. Vargas fought him believing him to be the real Storm.[4] Shaitan's fate was never revealed after this confrontation, as Vargas was shown to dump Shaitan's unconscious (or lifeless) body among the other defeated soldiers.[5]
