Niord was an Aesir's tribe leader seemingly during the late Hyborian Age, who had his tribe migrate southwards, into Pictland, where he battled then befriended the Picts in the Country of the Worm. He would later slay Satha (Set) and the Worm (the Wyrm), using the venom of the former to seemingly defeat the latter though succumbing in battle.[1] However, the Wyrm used dying Niord, accessing his many reincarnations through history and using those in his plots against his rival Set.[3]

Notes
- Niord was created by Robert E. Howard in the James Allison story "The Valley of the Worm" (Weird Tales; February, 1934), adapted in Supernatural Thrillers #3 (April, 1973), written by Roy Thomas and Gerry Conway and penciled by Gil Kane.
- Perseus, Beowulf, Saint George, and Siegfried appear as examples of legendary beings whose stories were inspired by the true story of Niord. James Allison implies that he doesn't believe any of them existed; however, Perseus, Beowulf, and Siegfried all do exist in the Prime Marvel Universe, and while Allison may be correct that the legend of Saint George and the Dragon is fictional, that does not mean Saint George himself is fictional. Historically, George was a Christian saint for hundreds of years before the legend of the dragon was attached to his life story.[4]
