Synopsis for "Collective (Part 5)"

The Collective and New Avengers arrive on Genosha to see that The Collective is expelling its mutant-derived energies.

The Collective has come to seek out Magneto and proceeds to transfer itself into Magnetos body, during which it is revealed that Xorn is actually the sentient part of The Collective.

The previously buried Mutants on Genosha are reanimated as zombified versions of themselves which the New Avengers fight off.

Meanwhile, Daisy Johnson has arrived with S.H.I.E.L.D Agents and is directed by Captain America to start a pinpoint tremor in Magnetos brain to cause it to explode

This causes The Collective to exit from Magnetos body where it is trapped in a force field by Iron Man and flown into the sun by The Sentry.

In the aftermath, an unconscious Magneto is flown away by S.H.I.E.L.D's helicopter but suddenly explodes on takeoff with no signs of Magneto in the wreckage.

Magneto was writing his thoughts in a book, in the aftermath of House Of M, which SHIELD confiscates.

Later, Maria Hill stares at a screen with the words "Superhuman Registration Act" written at its bottom.

Notes

  • This issue shows many deceased characters on Genosha; Rem-Ram is one of the only ones distinguishable. Another seems to be Senyaka, but he was already shown powered and alive after M-Day.
  • The disembodied spirit of Xorn appeared to have been the driving malevolent force behind The Collective. Taken into custody by S.H.I.E.L.D., Michael Pointer appears next in the Civil War: The Initiative one-shot. He is enlisted into service by Sasquatch as the new Guardian in Canada's latest super-team iteration, Omega Flight.
