Quote1 I'm not sure. When I was younger -- if I were designing a place to live that was everything I wanted -- that building would have been it. I would have called it home, I think. It's perfect, Scott. Like everything here. Like the island made it just for me. Doesn't that make the hair on your arms stand up? Quote2

The Narthex was a mysterious structure on Krakoa with no doors[5][6] that eventually became the home of Nightcrawler.[7]

History

Following the formation of the mutant nation of Krakoa, an unidentified forked towers sparked curious investigations from many mutants. Despite the structure being hollow, there was no entrance. Wolverine tried to cut his way in, but was unsuccessful in gaining entrance because the structure would immediately seal back up.[6]

When curiosity got the best of him, Nightcrawler decided to blindly teleport into the structure. After entering the building, Nightcrawler was immediately struck with how perfect it was.[6]

Transforming into a Babel Spire

Nightcrawler eventually took up residence in the Narthex.[7] Because the Narthex has no doors, Nightcrawler planted a Krakoan Gateway to allow for visitors at all hours.[2]

During an infiltration of Krakoa, Nimrod was able to covertly infect Warlock and used him to enter the Narthex and transform it into a Babel Tower.[8] Nimrod's progress was only halted by Warlock and ForgetMeNot sacrificing themselves.[9]
