Lucifer was one of Gambit's pet cats.
History
Lucifer, Figaro, and Oliver were originally captured by Sabretooth as a "snack" before being rescued by Mystique. Mystique then left the trio in Gambit's apartment for him to adopt them.[2]
When Gambit joined Serval Industries' new X-Factor, he moved his three cats with him into his apartment at Serval Industries' headquarters. While adjusting to their new environment, Oliver scratched Lorna.[1]

Lucifer, Figaro, and Oliver becoming a family with Rogue and Gambit
The trio eventually moved with Gambit back into his Tribeca penthouse. Because he can be gone for days at a time, the cats have become very independent and are sometimes skittish around guests. However, when they first met Rogue, they were very affectionate with her.[3] Since their marriage, Rogue has adopted the cats into her family with Gambit.[4][5][6]
The cats did move with Gambit and Rogue into the Braddock Lighthouse.[7] When Rogue was elected to the first Krakoan X-Men, she moved into the Treehouse, but Gambit and the boys remained in the Lighthouse.[6][8] When Coven Akkaba magically destroyed the Lighthouse, Captain Britain magically protected the cats from harm while keeping the gateway to Otherworld open with her Starlight Sword.[9]Notes
- Gambit has confirmed that his cats don't have any special powers.[10]
Trivia
- Given the names of Gambit's other cats, it seems likely that Lucifer was named after Lucifer, Lady Tremaine's cat from Disney's 1950 animated feature film Cinderella.
