Quote1 You were forged in fire, born in blood. My spirit made flesh. More than my child -- you are me, and I am you. One and the same now. Quote2
—Sergei Kravinoff[src]

History

Early Life[]

After Kraven the Hunter's botched resurrection at the hands of his wife and children, he and his daughter Ana Kravinoff hunted and killed the other members of their family - Vladimir, Alyosha, and Sasha Kravinoff. Following this, Sergei attempted to break the curse of immortality placed on him by his resurrection, though this proved unsuccessful.[6][7]

Last Son of Kraven

Dissatisfied with only having a daughter to carry on his legacy, Sergei travelled to Wundagore Mountain and forced the High Evolutionary to create eighty-seven clones of himself. Sergei took his "sons" to the Savage Land and trained them in the ways of the hunt until he deemed them ready, sending them out into the world with the task of proving themselves worthy of his legacy. Deeming his brethren to be weak and unworthy, one of the Sons of Kraven hunted and killed each of his "brothers" before returning to the Savage Land and giving their skulls to Kraven, who was overcome with pride at his Last Son's ruthlessness and named him his heir.[2]

The Great Hunt[]

Kraven sent the Last Son to subdue Spider-Man as part of an elaborate plan to goad his longtime enemy into killing him and breaking his curse of immortality.[7] As Kraven and his Last Son watched the Hunter robots battle the assembled animal-themed supervillains and heroes, the Son was outraged that his father didn't want him and his son hunting the prey themselves.[8] Dismissing his "father" as a pathetic shadow of his former self, the Last Son set out to join the hunt, attacking and defeating the Lizard.

Taking on the mantle of Kraven The Hunter

Upon seeing that Curt Connors had suppressed the Lizard, the Last Son dismissed him as being just as pathetic as Kraven, promising to kill the Lizard's son Billy right in front of him.[9] The Last Son attempted to kill the Black Cat and Billy but he was driven off by the Lizard. Returning to Kraven's manor and finding Spider-Man, the Last Son brutally pummeled him before strangling him to death, only to remove his mask and discover he had just killed Kraven himself, who had assumed Spider-Man's mantle and willingly let the Last Son kill him as part of a ploy to break his curse.[10] After attending his father's funeral, the Last Son found a letter left behind by his father, in which Kraven bequeathed him his legacy, not only as his son but as Sergei Kravinoff himself, since he was a clone, thus taking up the mantle of Kraven the Hunter.[1]

Wanting to go to hunt a worthy prey, Kraven targeted Deadpool, the King of the Monsters, and his monsters.[11] He killed a few dozen of them and eventually ambushed Deadpool, but before he could attempt to kill Deadpool, Elsa Bloodstone shot Deadpool with a bullet that teleported him to a pocket dimension.[12] After Deadpool returned and sent all of his Honor Guards to a safe place, Kraven and Deadpool fought again -- with Kraven eventually getting the upper hand.[13] Deadpool was able to injure Kraven and reunited with his guards. With their combined effort, they were able to defeat Kraven who was then transported to Alaska by a Soul-Eater.[14]

Sinister War[]

Kraven retreated to the Savage Land, where he was found by Doctor Octopus and Electro. Under the control of Kindred, Octavius was rebuilding the Sinister Six, and he convinced Kraven to join him in exchange for the chance to hunt the Lizard, who was Octavius' next recruit.[15] The team broke into Curt Connors' lab and they managed to separate the scientist's Lizard side into a separate entity with the Isotope Genome Accelerator.[16]

Continuing Kindred's plans, the Sinister Six recruited Mysterio at the premiere of his film. The team briefly clashed with the Savage Six, who wanted revenge on Mysterio.[17] After Spider-Man was delivered to Kindred by the Sinister Six, the villain forced the team to participate in a battle royale against other teams of Spider-Man's foes for the hero's head.[18] The villains were forced into the contest by Kindred lodging deadly centipedes into their brains, but they were ultimately freed from Kindred's grasp after Doctor Octopus cobbled together a device which killed the insects.[19]

Spider-Man Beyond[]

Kraven went to stalk Ben Reilly, the new Spider-Man, who was with his girlfriend at a park on Manhattan.[20] Learning that Spider-Man was under corporate masters, Kraven assaulted Beyond board member Andrew Airs on his penthouse so that the corporation would send its hero to the rescue. Once Spider-Man arrived, Kraven attacked the hero and told him about his plan of cleansing him during the hunt. As Spider-Man tried to escape through the window Kraven shot him with some dart tips that made the hero hallucinate.[3]

Attack on the Mutants[]

During the events of Judgement Day, Kraven decided to challenge himself by attacking the Mutant Nation of Krakoa. Using the severed head of Deadpool to access a Krakoan gate, Kraven would run rampant, destroying all of the Five's resurrection husks and hunting and killing numerous mutants including Icarus and Maggott before abducting The Beast and using him as bait to draw out his real target: Wolverine, who Kraven believed to be the most dangerous person on Krakoa. Although he was eventually defeated, Kraven survived the encounter, and swore to return to the island to butcher the Mutants.[21][22]

Attributes

Powers

Calypso Serum: The Last Son of Kraven is one of 87 clones created by the High Evolutionary for Sergei Kravinoff. Unlike his donor and predecessor, Kraven II and the rest of his batch came into being innoculated with the same mystical potion, the effects of which on their gestation and growth being left to speculation. As a result of the serum and rapid maturization processes all of Kraven's bodily functions are augmented to a comparable, if not greater, degree as his father.

  • Alchemically Enhanced Physiology: Kraven's body has been elevated beyond the limits of finest human athletes. Essentially the serum makes him the "fittest" among humans. His status as a mutate actually allows him to engage with large predators like lions and other dangerous animals without much issue. The effects of the Calypso Serum appear to be permanent.
  • Superhuman Strength: The original Kraven's strength level has been set at the lower end of superhuman range, allowing him to lift approximately 2 tons. Although he has exhibited enough raw power to fight evenly with and has previously managed to restrain Spider-Man. Kraven II's strength level is currently undetermined, but most likely comparable to his father.
  • Superhuman Speed: The original Kraven was capable of running and moving at speeds greater than even the finest human athlete and could spring short distances at speeds up to 60 miles per hour.
  • Superhuman Stamina: Kraven's musculature produced less fatigue toxins during physical activity than the musculature of an ordinary human. He could extert himself at peak capacity for several hours before fatigue began to impair him.
  • Superhuman Durability: Though far from invulnerable, Kraven II's body is somewhat tougher and more resistant to injury than the body of an ordinary human. Notably, he can withstand great impacts and blunt force trauma, such as being punched and kicked by Spider-Man, without injury.
  • Superhuman Agility: Kraven's agility, balance, and bodily coordination were enhanced to levels that were beyond the human body's natural limits.
  • Superhuman Reflexes: Kraven's reflexes and reaction time were enhanced to levels that were beyond the human body's natural limits. These alterations were enough to dodge Spider-Man's webbing and avoid his strikes.
  • Extended Longevity: The original Kraven's jungle potions drastically altered the natural ageing process, causing him to age much slower than an ordinary human. Despite being in his 70s at the time of his death, Kraven maintained the physical appearance and vitality of 30 year old man.
