Synopsis for "Cheating Death"

As Thor contemplates a long-forgotten battle from centuries past, he is approached by Thanos, who mocks his archaic language and accuses him of lacking depth. Thor instantly attacks but Thanos easily rebuffs him and says he wants to talk.

Shopping with her husband Rick in Los Angeles, Marlo Jones gripes about feeling old after being rejected for an acting role. Rick Jones approaches a stranger to get his opinion of Marlo, but the Stranger turns out to be a violent lunatic who attacks them. Fleeing outside, they find Thanos, who blasts the newcomer, whom he calls Walker, with little effect. Walker demands to know where “she” is, but Thanos refuses to tell him. Thor joins the battle but Walker still holds them both at bay. Finally Rick Jones is able to switch places with Genis-Vell, who had to wait until he found a planet with atmosphere so Rick Jones would survive changing places with him. Once Marvel arrives the three powerhouses work together to blast Walker at full strength, finally seemingly destroying him.

Thanos transports them all to his spaceship and explains that Walker is a death god from another galaxy who sacrificed every living being in his galaxy as an offering to Death, but was still rejected by her. He now seeks to destroy her. Thanos reveals that to protect Death from this assassin, he has ushered her into hiding within the body of a mortal — Marlo Jones.
