History
Ashake was a ruler of African Empire of Meroë during the 1st century AD. Ashake was the best warrior of her empire, known as the First Sword of Meroë. Not having any strong opponents among her subordinates, she liked to capture foreign warriors and stage Royal Hunt, where they were released into the desert and Ashake alone hunted after them. One of such warriors was Marada Starhair, who was captured by Meroë's army. During the hunt Ashake was tricked by Marada, forced into close combat she was eventually defeated. Unknown to both of them, the captain of Meroë's army secretly trailed behind them with several warriors. Once the battle between Ashake and Marada ended, he appeared and tried to kill Ashake to usurp the throne. Marada helped her to defeat enemies and thus was freed and allowed to leave Meroë unharmed. Ashake even asked Marada to stay and become her right hand, but was refused.[3]
