Paper Lily - Chapter 1

Something terrible has happened. You can’t bear to think about it - but you can’t live like this anymore. You stopped attending school, you haven’t left your house in months, you have no reason to get out of bed anymore. There are no choices left.
No choice except... that strange golden letter.
It’s time to get your life back together.

Paper Lily is a horror RPG game in which you can solve each puzzle in multiple different ways. Explore a hidden world, meet strange characters, and guide Lacie as she attempts to find answers about her unusual condition.
There is always another way.
The game is playable in about 4 hours (probably). As was the case with Project Kat on its first release, the game contains only 1 ending but multiple variations depending on your actions. An update with the endings is coming soon!
Paper Lily - Chapter 1 is the continuation to the prologue, Project Kat, but it can also be enjoyed without having played it.

IMPORTANT!
We are still only two idiots making this game: Any comment, review, email, or any other sort of love we get helps feed our souls so that we can channel our magic powers into making Chapter 1 (and the rest of the game) better for everyone!
Please note that there are a few things we needed to temporarily remove/disable from Chapter 1 in its current state, namely:
- Multiple endings
- Collectibles
- A few extra secrets and interactions
If you run into a situation where you would have triggered a dead end, you will receive a generic game over screen instead (don't panic, it's a placeholder).

AH I love this game so much!! I have almost finished it. Story is amazing, it is hard for me to play but thats prob bc i havent played much RPG horror firsthand. Music is amazing, love how it fits in the area you are in!! Backround is also amazing- would love to be in the game myself. ARTSTYLE IS SO CUTE!! genuinely got me simping for Sai (pls i want to marry him)

edit : now i'm proud to say i finally 100% this game. unlocked all the doorknobs, runes, interactions, secret paths, and (almost all) coins. thank you for creating this game, i'm still not changing my opinion that this is the best game i've ever played.

Hello Leef 6010 fans! I'm thinking of starting a fandub of Paper Lily and Project Kat. This is not a paid project so it would be volunteer work. I'm a huge fan of this game and would love to put something together for it. We will need voice actors, editors, and a director! I would direct myself but I'm more a voice actor. This game is just an incredible masterpiece! I can't find any other words to describe it! I can't believe this game is free! There's just something amazing about it! The art style is beautiful, the gameplay is engaging and interesting (especially the combat system surprised me), the story is out of this world, the characters are super engaging, funny and full of personality, and the soundtrack is just... I'm speechless! Immediately after playing this game I bought the Support Pack! I even created an account on this site to support this beautiful game that can compete with legendary titles like undertale, omori, oneshot and many others that i am forgeting about! And this is just the first chapter! leef6010, you are amazing! I also feel a bit embarrassed because I only now after a year decided to write all this lol. And i also apologize if i made any spelling mistakes but i don't write in English very often... Can't wait for the full game!

i absolutely love this game!! the animation and art were adorable, and the playthrough was very fun. i also enjoyed playing the creative puzzles! this will be my top favs + project kat, cant wait for chp. 2 :D
I try to do actually provide some feedback to the devs when I post in the comments to hopefully help in future development but I'm sorry I think this game is the first 5 star I'm going to give out thus far. I couldn't think of one down side to this game. I put the most effort not only to just the editing stuff but playing it just made me want to play more. Then coming back to the game store page to see all the possible endings (I'm assuming not all in Chapter 1) makings me want to just dive back in to find other possible endings.
There are no down sides, if you clicked this game and you are reading this comment then you should already have this game downloaded.

I just started playing it, I'm here from Project Kat, I really like the beginning, there's a looooot to play, and the music and atmosphere are so cool, I want to play it all ^^
Im so excited for the next game. i have just ONE request! LET ME PLAY AS KAT AGAIN PLEASE I LOVE HER SHES THE GREATEST CHARACTER IN FICTION SHES SO COOL AND I DONT WANT HER TO DIE PLEASE.
But yea youre games have been masterpieces so far the miss knives shit really gave me the shivers it was great. also sai?? whats with sai? and is Main character dead? are we gonna play as a new character next game? maybe KAT!?!?! im just grasping at straws... whatever. also hiro is a funny dude why does he have to be... like that (i missed the bus on my second playthrough so... i got THAT ending)

It's confirmed that you are gonna play more characters than just lacie, leef confirmed you're gonna play as sai aswell, the girl in the shop is "little kat" so I dont know if kat is coming back, something happened to her
I saw that there is 5Mbytes update for Project Kat too , any information about the changes ? maybe just dialogue changes probably ?
I can't start the game, I am stuck in the title screen, I have tried every single button on my keyboard and nothing workssss :( I am sad because i really want to play this game but i can't make a new game. Does anyone have some tips?

I finally got around to playing this! I played Project Kat literally 4 years ago (insane how fast 4 years go by) but the entire time I constantly remembered my time with it and would occasionally check in for when Paper Lily was releasing.
Funny enough, when I was playing Project Kat, I saw it was made in Godot, and since then I've learned a bit of Godot myself with interests in game development.
This game has been a treat to see come to life and finally get to play!!! I'm so excited to go through the entire thing and savour it. Also the music is incredible. I love the change that happens when "this is when the search truly begins"

I would love to play the continuation of the kat project, I discovered this game 1 day ago and I'm already a big fan of this game, but I would like to have the translation into Portuguese (Brazil)
very exciting, lots of dead ends, more exciting when the final knife boss is quite long and complicated (difficult) that's when the knife throwing pazzle at the last moment, and the characters in the previous game become demons in the demon shop,also, I'm patiently waiting for the next episode
started playing like 2 hours ago and got 2nd and 6th ending only, but i can already tell that this is the best game i've ever played. i can't tell much about the story since i haven't unlocked the true ending yet, but the garphics and music is amazing. now my main goal is to unlock all the endings (edit : unlocked them all 3 days after writing this) and after that i'm gonna play project kat and unlock all the endings as well.
not to even mention the fact that it was made by TWO PEOPLE ONLY. literally how o.O you guys are so talented and amazing, keep up the good work. can't wait for more games like this!! <3
i started playing this game because i couldnt sleep but than i got so invested in it i couldnt sleep because i was playing the game:0 but in all seriousness this was an amazing game i loved the characters and the story. this game has some serious potential for chapter two and i look forward to it. i really wish i had the money to spare to help yall out anyway much love and love to all:p

Pixel scenes and characters really too careful! The music and sound effects work well together too! Especially like a small piece of lily where pure music! Overall, the new scenes, characters, plot, and ending felt very, very good to me! The painting and craft are so good and thoughtful... Very hard work!! ... And there are some doubts and expectations for the plot! I used to think Sai was a demon and he couldn't die, but after the 13th ending, was Sai also dead and turned into a pile of viscera[?] Or, Sai is mortal! [] Then Lacie's identity also makes me look forward to more and more, she may be a reincarnation of a character, right? ... And AOI! I don't think she's human! Just played the updated version, got all the endings, and went back to get all the endings of Project Kat again, because I couldn't get enough of this game.

I remember saving this game like a year ago but I didn't play it because I wasn't in the mood, then I forgot about this game for months until the internet went out one day (around yesterday) and thank god I downloaded it months before, finally decided to play it and it was the best decision ever, I spent more than five hours on my first playthrough and it kept me entertained all throughout the game, and not only that, THIS IS STILL CHAPTER 1 (AND THERE'S SO MANY ENDINGS). This is one of the best games I've ever played 5/5!

Got it on steam and i am absolutely OBSESSED. Its got great visuals, storytelling, etc. I probably spent too much time avoiding the maze but this game is great and gave me motivation to actually work on stuff for my game. Im excited for the rest!!
Played this on Steam and absolutely loved it. It's a nostalgic return to the RPG Horror games I grew up with. I'm very much looking forward to the rest of the game. The quality is so high that it blows my mind that it's free and made by only two people!
