A recent report shows a 30% increase in global cyberattacks in Q2 2024 compared to Q2 2023, with an average of 1,636 attacks per organization per week. The education and research sector experienced the highest increase, with a 53% rise, followed by the government/military sector. This rise can be attributed to factors such as digital transformation, sophisticated cybercriminal techniques using AI and machine learning, economic motivations like ransomware, and geopolitical tensions. We emphasize the urgent need for robust cybersecurity across all industries. Companies must prioritize proactive actions to protect their digital assets and ensure smooth business continuity. Chetan Jain, Founding Executive Director, and Managing Director, Inspira Enterprise said, "As we approach the Union Budget announcement, it is imperative that we focus on fortifying India's digital infrastructure across critical sectors with increased budgetary allocations, prioritizing cutting-edge technologies and robust infrastructure development. In alignment with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDPA), this budget should promote the design and implementation of comprehensive cybersecurity programs, reinforcing the legal framework for data privacy. Furthermore, tax incentives for organizations investing in cybersecurity are crucial to strengthening our defense mechanisms. Additionally, significant support is needed to cultivate cybersecurity talent through targeted skill development initiatives. The budget should also enable further impetus with policies that support innovation in Generative AI (GenAI), particularly in transforming the cybersecurity landscape" - https://lnkd.in/dWGyNuS7 #CyberSecurity #UnionBudget #DPDPA #DigitalInfrastructure #DataPrivacy #InspiraEnterprise

Cybersecurity workers face a substantial scarcity of skills in the sector as a result of a developing threat environment. Mukul Kulshrestha, Vice President of Cyber Security at Inspira Enterprise, writes for CIOAXIS on the critical role that GenAI plays in educating and assisting cybersecurity professionals in bridging the skills gap in the field. Mukul points out that GenAI presents a revolutionary solution by bridging the skill gap and enhancing professional capabilities. Unlike traditional AI, GenAI excels in creative content generation, enabling tailored training programs and real-time threat simulations. It improves SOC efficiency by automating tasks, providing faster policy recommendations, and lowering entry barriers with personalized learning experiences. While GenAI cannot replace cybersecurity professionals, it enhances their abilities by analyzing vast threat intelligence data. National cyber-attacks cause disruptions to public services and erode public confidence, as seen by the recent widespread CDK ransomware outbreak that closed automobile dealerships nationwide in June 2024. A firm board should not get technical details regarding remedies or attack strategies, but rather simple, succinct information related to business goals. Businesses are still uneasy despite the rise in these attacks, and CISOs have a difficult time adequately conveying the risks to their boards. Effective communication regarding cybersecurity that is focused on business is essential. However, since many CISOs do not report directly to CEOs, their impact is limited. Effective cybersecurity leadership involves justifying budgets, mastering risk reporting, celebrating achievements, fostering cross-departmental collaboration, and focusing on critical threats. Addressing these areas helps bridge the communication gap between CISOs and boards, ensuring informed decision-making and improved organizational resilience.
