A new report from video games market research and consulting firm Niko Partners has outlined that the video games market in Asia and MENA (Middle East and North Africa) generated up to USD ($) 85.5 billion in revenue in 2023. This report also noted that this revenue number indicates a 4.6% increase year-on-year. Let's check other details shared in the report including future projections.

According the the additional information, the gaming industry in Asia and MENA is projected to expand significantly between 2024 and 2028. During this period, India is expected to be the fastest-growing market followed by MENA-3 region (Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Egypt) and Southeast Asia.

Growth and Revenue of the Indian Market by 2028

India is expected to gain 277 million new gamers by 2028, accounting for a substantial 72% of the total gamer growth across Asia and MENA regions. One important projection to note here is that India is expected to even surpass China in terms of the growth.

The Indian market generated about $830 million in 2023 which amounts to 15.9 percent year-on-year increase, down from the 19% growth the market saw in 2022. According to the new report, India is expected to grow by 13.6 percent in 2024 while bringing in $943 million. The market revenue is expected to cross $1 billion in 2025 with expected revenue to reach $1.4 billion by 2028. This report also noted that mobile gaming will likely account to 77.9% of the total revenue, PC accounting for 14.5% and consoles about 7.7%.

Towards the end of 2022, the analysis firm noted that India had about 396.4 million gamers, with PC and mobile players spending $704.5 million. Highlighting the split of platforms, 98.8%, preferred playing on mobile devices. Mobile also accounted for 85% of the total gaming revenue.

On average, Indian mobile gamers spent 14.1 hours per week playing games. Notably, India had the highest proportion of mobile gamers in the Asia-10 region, with players dedicating over five hours per week to gaming.
