Gizmodo Is Hiring a Social Media Editor

Gizmodo has a new owner, the firm Keleops, and we are looking to grow our team.

Gizmodo—a tech, science, and pop culture news site founded in 2002—is hiring a social media editor to join our NYC-based newsroom. We were recently acquired by the European media company Keleops; it’s a new chapter for Gizmodo, and we’re eager to grow the editorial team.

We’re looking for a video-focused social editor with a vision for how Gizmodo can develop its social media strategy and presence.

Candidates will amplify and remix for social media the daily news, features, and investigative projects produced by the Gizmodo team, while ensuring all content aligns with the brand’s voice and editorial standards.

Part of the role will be to experiment with formats, maintain a focus on speed for news, build a regular publishing cadence, and optimize workflows.

Candidates should have experience creating video, especially short-form vertical video for TikTok, Instagram, and other platforms; engaging with audiences on X, Facebook, Reddit, and elsewhere; and collaborating with other journalists in a newsroom environment.

Candidates should have at least 2 years of editorial experience and be familiar with journalistic best practices and the topics that Gizmodo covers.

This is a position covered under the collective bargaining agreement with the WGA-E. The salary range for this position is $70,000 – $90,000. To apply for this role, please send a resume, cover letter, examples of your work to [email protected]
