What problem does this address?

When editing a Page from Site View > Pages, it's pretty easy to understand how to switch to template editing, as the default state has the site sidebar open with a big "Edit template" button.

Once "Edit template" is clicked and we're taken to template editing, the only options to go back to content editing are the "Back to page" notification at the bottom, which disappears after a few seconds, and the "< Back" option in the Command Center, which doesn't seem directly related to going back to content editing.

What is your proposed solution?

If we're editing a template after editing a page's content, we should have an "Edit Page" button in the same area as "Edit template"

Hi @liviopv there is an option to go back to the page you are editing for WP 6.2.2 as shown in the short video below. The edit template option looks a bit different from yours because I tested that when Gutenberg was deactivated :)

To clarify, maybe you are suggesting re-design, positioning, or renaming the back option?

@Thelmachido, we're talking about different editing contexts.

The one I mentioned in the issue is the Site Editor page editing flow (Site Editor > Page > Edit Template), and what's shown in your video is the Page Editor > Edit template flow. I raised a different issue suggesting that we should unify them: #51459

I noticed this as well. The problem seems to be that the new template editor uses placeholder content rather than using the content of the current page. Notice that the screenshot here has placeholder content while the video here retains the page content.

Hi @liviopv I see, thanks for clarifying that
