Template-protected edit request on 11 December 2018

[edit]

The 2018 selection needs to be added; The entry into the table should read something like:

That includes the wrap notation, as has been done for other entries like "The Whistleblowers" and "Ebola Fighters". Capital Gazette could alternately be bluelinked to The Capital. Doc StrangeMailboxLogbook 23:32, 11 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. You can copy the current page into your sandbox and make edits there to show what changes you would like made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. – Jonesey95 (talk) 23:42, 11 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, here is the change I wish to make in my sandbox. I bolded the line I would like to be added. The references are the source that is included on the Time Person of the Year page, and the landing page for this year's award on the Time website Doc StrangeMailboxLogbook 00:38, 12 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Done. I have implemented the requested changes. Thanks for formatting it for me. If anyone has any questions about or objections to the links that are used for the people cited, this page is a good place to bring them up. – Jonesey95 (talk) 17:28, 14 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Possible Redirect

[edit]

I would suggest that Wa Lone and Kyaw Soe Oo be reset to link to the page Wa Lone which now exists. (As yet, there is no page for "Kyaw Soe Oo" but the common case is discussed at "Wa Lone".) Mary Mark Ockerbloom (talk) 05:35, 26 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Perfect example of the idiocy of strong long term protection

[edit]

This template has not been updated for 2019 and the 2018 entry does not even point to the existing articles of the recepients (see above). Sad. Hektor (talk) 16:28, 11 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This would follow the same format as the names listed after Ebola Fighters (2013) and The Guardians (2018). Thanks! MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 23:29, 7 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Not done for now: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{edit template-protected}} template. At least 35 people were featured as "silence breakers" in this issue. Is there consensus to list five of the six people shown on the cover in this template? – Jonesey95 (talk) 17:24, 8 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Jonesey95: These five are the only ones on the cover (the sixth woman on the cover is anoympus). The others are in the magazine but not on the cover. Same thing with The Guardians with only the cover people are mentioned in the template but not the other people listed inside the magazine i.e. Wa Lone but not Shahidul Alam. --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 18:04, 8 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please fix the link to astronaut Bill Anders to that it doesn't link to the redirect William Anders. Thank you. HandsomeFella (talk) 12:40, 23 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Not done (not yet) @HandsomeFella: not sure why that article is at the title Bill Anders instead of William Anders - as everything in the article and the Apollo 8 article calls him "William" (that nickname isn't even in the lede). Is there some dispute about what the common name of this person is supposed to be? — xaosflux Talk 14:12, 23 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
To editors Xaosflux and HandsomeFella: the William Anders article was moved to "Bill Anders" in 2019 without discussion. I just reverted that rename, so the name is now correctly formatted in this navbar and will appear in bold typeface on the astronaut's article page. Please change from Melinda Gates to Melinda French Gates now that she is divorced from Microsoft co-founder William H. Gates III. cookie monster (2020) 755 17:49, 8 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

CookieMonster755, is there consensus somewhere for this change? firefly ( t · c ) 17:56, 8 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Talk:Melinda French Gates there is consensus there about what name to use for her post-divorce. However, it is possible to keep it at Melinda Gates since that was her name when she received the Time Person of the Year. cookie monster (2020) 755 17:59, 8 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Change Melinda Gates to Melinda French Gates. Latter is the main title. Saturdayopen (talk) 19:46, 21 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Not done for now: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{edit template-protected}} template. See above. Is there a consensus here, or somewhere else, that we should retroactively change the name of the person from the name that Time used on its cover? – Jonesey95 (talk) 21:22, 21 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Consensus? Isn't the standard for templates not to have redirects? Saturdayopen (talk) 03:28, 22 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Wait. How about we change Melinda Gates to Melinda Gates? Is that OK? Saturdayopen (talk) 03:30, 22 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
