Per Wikipedia:Relevance of content I think this section could be nixed from the template. --Dystopos (talk) 15:17, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Years active

[edit]

Dr. King was active in the Chicago Open Housing Movement of 1966, so I removed (1965-1966) and made it just 1966. Randy Kryn 14:15 22 May 2013 (UTC)

Addition to template of The Meeting

[edit]

The template is now closed for repairs, or guarded, or some such. Could someone add The Meeting to the Media section (Films and television) of the template. Thanks. Randy Kryn 12:18 7 June 2014 (UTC)

@Randy Kryn: I've just looked at Template:Martin Luther King and it's not protected - and never has been (here's the log); I also notice that you've edited it before, several times. What difficulties are you now experiencing that weren't there in March? --Redrose64 (talk) 12:41, 7 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I experienced it as being protected as of yesterday, or I just swam into an alternate universe. Thanks, Randy Kryn 12:46 7 June 2014 (UTC)

"Songs"

[edit]

Perhaps we should change "Songs" to "Music" since at least one entry is an album, and the word "Music" is more inclusive? ---Another Believer (Talk) 15:38, 31 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

He Another Believer. Just saw this, and I had just made an entry which proves your point, an album of symphony music. Good catch. I'll change it per talk page (done, and the same change here too). Randy Kryn 19:30, 31 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Template

[edit]

Templates are used to populate pages where the content is related. Since Professor X mentions MLK, it is suitable. Ninefive6 (talk) 02:13, 8 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

this is nonsense; a mere mention of Dr. King does not make the articles "related". --Orange Mike | Talk 05:22, 8 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

RFC - professor X

[edit]

The consensus is that Professor X should not be included in the template. Cunard (talk) 02:02, 23 May 2016 (UTC)

Should professor X be included in the template? Ninefive6 (talk) 06:22, 8 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

No. I can't see any good reason he should be, nor where he would fit in the template. If every person and fictional character who merely mentioned MLK were included in this template, it would be unmanageably big. Caeciliusinhorto (talk) 09:40, 8 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support, as nom/op in this section. The reason being is that the very conception of the Prof X character was conceived by MLK's nonviolent resistance attitude. On hte other hand, is Prof X himself notable enough? Yes. Thats because he's a main character in arguably one of the most influential comics in history. It would also give some insight on what influence he's had on popular culture. Ninefive6 (talk) 13:39, 8 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak Oppose, the template is for Dr. King and closely related topics, not an unrelated fictional character who also prefers using nonviolence for social change. To add the page here would also mean adding it to the Leo Tolstoy and Mohandas Gandhi material. I'd like to say that the intention of Ninefive6 is certainly commendable, and has taught me something about Prof X that I wasn't aware of. Thanks. Randy Kryn 20:28, 8 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose, per Caeciliusinhorto and Randy Kryn, I see no reason to make such a trivial and slight connection. Pincrete (talk) 21:53, 8 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strong oppose - trivializes a major figure in world history to drag in a pop culture reference. (Not that it matters, but I read the original comics; the MLK/Malcolm X = Prof. X/Magneto concept is a retcon of the characters; originally Magneto was more of a megalomaniac.) --Orange Mike | Talk 23:45, 8 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • I have withdrawn my request Ninefive6 (talk) 03:45, 9 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Way to group the sculptures?

[edit]

Is there a way to group the sculptures (which includes some busts and statues)? ---Another Believer (Talk) 03:23, 16 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
