Proposed deletion of The Circle (U.S. TV series)

[edit]

@Discospinster: I am wondering why you think the article should be deleted. I am opening up a discussion to hear your thoughts because I think the article should not be deleted. Jayab314 14:39, 5 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

My reasoning is in the proposed deletion itself: it's only in casting stages right now, it hasn't even started filming. ... discospinster talk 14:45, 5 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Discospinster: That does not warrant a deletion. Many TV shows have articles before filming starts. (see American Idol (season 18), Race to the Center of the Earth (U.S. TV series), etc.) Jayab314 14:49, 5 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
That article includes a number of citations from secondary sources, showing that it's already notable. ... discospinster talk 14:50, 5 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Discospinster: I added a couple of citations as I quickly made the article the morning and would work on it throughout the day as I found more information. Jayab314 21:14, 5 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Airdates

[edit]

@Jayab314: Just a possibility we might want to consider on the confusion on air dates. This source states that The first four episodes of The Circle US will be released to Netflix on January 1st, 2020. However, episodes will be released over the course of three weeks. This deviates from the formula on Channel 4, which saw episodes air every single night à la Love Island. As of yet, the release dates for the other episodes has not been announced, the way I'm reading this is that the distributor is releasing the entire series to the Netflix COMPANY on January 1st but that once Netflix has them they can release them to the PUBLIC as wanted which is once a week over the course of three weeks. Perhaps that might clear up some confusion? Multiple other sources show a weekly release schedule, and when I checked the Netflix website that you cited I couldn't personally find anything supporting your claim? TheDoctorWho (Happy Christmas!) 18:12, 21 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@TheDoctorWho: I think what's happening is that episodes will be added to Netflix on January 1, 8, and 15; however, Netflix will add multiple episodes on each of those dates, starting with four episodes on January 1 (to verify that, please see this screenshot of Netflix's page that shows that four episodes will be added on January 1). Jayab314 18:18, 21 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Jayab314: I think you may be right, and if that's the case that would also lead to the confusion caused here. I didn't have the message saying that the first four episodes dropped on the first, could be a difference in operating system, etc. This initial source I added does read The Circle premieres Wednesday, January 1 with new episodes dropping Wednesday, January 8 and Wednesday, January 15 (putting an emphasis on the s) it could be read that multiple episodes would be dropping on the 8th and 15th. Considering this follows a format similar to Big Brother it's safe to assume that weeks are important in the game (as in the same things happen on a weekly cycle) then this TFC source could be assumed that the episodes surrounding Week 1 drop on the first, Week 2 on the eighth, and Week 3 (the final week) on the fifteenth. Reading what I also quoted above from that source it would go along with this theory. Looking at all four/five (with Netflix source) sources cited as a whole, put together, they can actually all support this theory it's just on their own, independently, it leads to confusion. It may be useful to split the episode table into Weeks as we've done recently at BB and Love Island. TheDoctorWho (Happy Christmas!) 03:56, 22 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@TheDoctorWho: Hey, I just wanted to show you this extremely informative article by The New York Times. I don't know if you plan on watching the series or not, but if you do, I think it's a really good read. It also says there will be twelve episodes airing between the 1st and the 15th. Combining this information with the Futon Critic and Netflix's claim of four episodes coming out on the 1st, it could be assumed that four episodes will be coming out every Wednesday. I went ahead and chaged that for the episode table, but I still left all the previous references just in case. Here is the article: [1] Jayab314 03:24, 30 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Update: I just found this article by Decider that states, "Netflix will release four episodes on New Years Day, followed by four more episodes for the next two Wednesdays after that." [2] Jayab314 03:33, 30 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sean Taylor

[edit]

Is there a reliable source that shows Sean Taylor will be in the circle? If not, we should remove her. Prcc27 (talk) 04:10, 3 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Prcc27: Sean was seen multiple times in the trailer. She is also followed by the official The Circle Netflix Instagram account. It only follows the contestants, Netflix, and The Circle UK. Her Instagram bio states she is a contestant on this season, so I added that as a reference. I got the information from the trailer which showed her full bio and profile. She is also listed in the end credits as a contestant. Other names are listed there as well for future contestants but I haven’t added them because their information isn’t available. Orphaned references in The Circle (American TV series)

[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of The Circle (American TV series)'s orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "TFC":

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 04:02, 4 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
