Merger proposal

[edit]

I propose that Cleveland Theater District be merged into Playhouse Square. I think that the content in the Cleveland Theater District article can easily be explained in the context of Playhouse Square, and the Playhouse Square article is of a reasonable size that the merging of Cleveland Theater District will not cause any problems as far as article size or undue weight is concerned. Disagree strongly. The changes by some new editor seem to have misled you. There are robust references to the District. It is clear -- even from the refs then in the article, used to support a different proposition, that the square is simply part of the district. If anything, the square would be moved into the district, not vice versa, and they are certainly not the same thing. This is actually a theater district -- parallel to a number of other theater districts in other cities. --Epeefleche (talk) 01:02, 22 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
There's been no activity on this discussion in six months. Unless anyone objects, I am going to consider this proposal closed and rremove the merger tags in a day or two. Cheers, Markhh (talk) 02:34, 22 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

2nd biggest theatre district in the US

[edit]

The Wikipedia article on the Detroit Theatre District refers to it as the 2nd largest district in the U.S. after New York City. The Wikipedia article on Cleveland's Playhouse Square refers to it as the 2nd largest district after New York City. Arte they both tied for 2nd place? Or what?104.129.196.124 (talk) 18:06, 6 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It's a pretty dubious claim on both accounts and should probably be deleted from both articles. For Cleveland, the only source is their own publicity material. But for what it's worth Cleveland's claim is to be the second biggest "performing arts center". Not exactly the same thing, howver, it became a "center" only in later years. It was a "district" much longer. Best to delete, IMO. Cheers, Markhh (talk) 22:27, 6 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
