Release Date

[edit]

This has been changed a few times over the history of this article. Therefore, it should be kept as 1st july, as the ref clearly states it. and IF it gets changed let it be REFERENCED before. and if it is not, it should be deleted! Philbuck222 18:51, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

is it out now? it's july 1st but i havent heard anything. the article still says "release date july 1st" without mention if it has come true 79.233.95.19 (talk) 17:40, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I just saw it. Trust me, it's out. BOVINEBOY2008 18:48, 1 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well, it is definitely out now, as I own it on DVD.

Prequels Or Sequels

[edit]

Okay, I need to clear this up as its being changed back and forth. A prequel is a movie that comes before... and sequel is one that comes after. So looking at the plot details "The is currently no plot details but it is predicted to continue where the prequel left off." (Where the film before, the predecessor finished).

It can't be "sequel" because that would mean it continues where Ice Age 4 (assuming there is one made) finishes. — Movie Junkie 19:27, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

its referring to the end of Ice Age 2. 71.206.136.69 07:21, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Such abuse was not needed, if you read what I said you have actually agreed with me, so there was no need to call me a 'dumb ass'. — MovieJunkie Talk! 09:35, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

changed article to "where Ice Age 2 left off", to stop this whole prequel/sequal debate.Philbuck222 02:45, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

A user that was previously deleted has come back as another user and has started vandalising this page again, it was deleted under the name TJUser (talk page) because he was a suspected sockpuppet of another notorious username. Can we please prevent him as much as possible from getting away with editing Wikipedia FULL STOP not just this page EwanMclean2005 19:47, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm all for stopping vandalism so I'll be on the look out, however we need to confirm their IP address so that in future, if they are persistant, we can get the IP address blocked.
I've noticed these IP's: 200.71.186.240, 200.71.186.242, 200.71.186.243 have been making silly changes so it could be either of them, I'll keep watch on their contributions. — MovieJunkie Talk! 20:12, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I'm gonna edit this old post, I simply want to express my opinion of how could ice age 3 be. I simply consider this third movie as the "Diego Movie" and with that I mean that since Manfred found his love, Diego might find his too. Exrain (talk) 00:18, 10 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

according to a ShoWest teaser poster released today the title of the film will be Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (http://comingsoon.net/nextraimages/showestfirst1.jpg), im not sure how to change the actual page article title to this from Ice age 3. this would be good to change in light of the new information released. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fiskintl (talkcontribs) 09:46, 9 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Could we get this person blocked, because he/she constantly changes the release date of the film, and adds irrelevant links to this and other articles.--EclipseSSD (talk) 21:37, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ah there is a little dispute about the release date of this, according to IMDb its July 4th but according to Box Office Mojo its July 1st, I don't however think this warrants a block, remember the 3 revert rule. EwanMclean2005 (talk) 21:54, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I suppose so. Just so you know, the IMDb does list the UK and US release dates as July 1. I've looked into it, and that's what it says.--EclipseSSD (talk) 13:21, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Here it is. - Don golgi (talk) 23:07, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Odd, no?

[edit]

The available pictures for "Dawn of the Dinosaurs" suggest that the dinosaurs in question (if there really is more than one; such name plays to bring up anticipation for movies have not been passed by before!) are disproportionately larger than the main animals; the head of what looks like a Tyrannosaurus is about as big as Manfred himself! Then again, it could be a trick with the cameras, but I don't quite know what to think. Any thoughts or am I the only excessively-pedantic-yet-admirable-in-an-irksome-kind-of-way fellow who feels perplexed about this?--KnowledgeLord (talk) 05:58, 20 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not only is the T-Rex head on the poster ridiculously oversized for an actual scale representation, how in the world are they going to explain dinosaurs and mammoths coexisting? Not that talking animals are the epitome of scientific rigor, but at least the previous two movies had no gigantic anachronisms such as this. AndySocial (talk) 14:57, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, the first two films did have a number of anachronisms: the first two films had animals from all epochs of the world as their cast and supporting characters, few from the Ice Ages. But it's all in the name of putting up a good show, so it's okay.--KnowledgeLord (talk) 20:57, 27 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The T.Rex didn't seem as large in the first trailer, compared to Scrat, did he? ZEM talk to me! 16:49, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The worst part is that the Ice Age that had mammals came after the dinosaurs went extinct. The whole "dawn of the dinosaurs" is WAY wrong. The Holocene epoch came after that meltdown, meaning there should be more cavemen and such, not sudden dinosaurs. This is worse than Pocahontas (movie). Bob the Wikipedian (talkcontribs) 22:37, 2 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed! I wouldn't be surprised if it transpires that there was a little meddling by anti-scientific creationists going on behind the scenes. A not-so-subtle attempt to influence the (particularly) American youth into further confusion about issues surrounding evolution. Remember: He who holds the youth holds the future - and thats what they are aiming at.1812ahill (talk) 16:44, 22 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Historical

[edit]

Shouldn't there be some discussion on the historic accuracy of the film. I know its just an animated comedyish family film, but still, isn't it impossible for all these animals to be together due to them not being alive in the same time periods?IAmTheCoinMan (talk) 22:53, 5 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It is impossible, yes, but then a lot of the creatures in this movie lived in different time periods to begin with: they had mammoths next to diatrymas, it's like having ancient Egyptians and spacemen together. It's a cartoon and so stuff tends to spring leaks in terms of accuracy, but without those leaks, you haven't much of a story.--KnowledgeLord (talk) 02:18, 3 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Plus, the from the trailers, the plot is following the age old idea that a dinosaur society has survived underground and missed the destruction of their species. So it is not like we are experiencing anything new.194.81.189.20 (talk) 13:17, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No, nothing new, but worse than stuff aimed at older populations. Hundreds of elementary school teachers will bemoan this for years to come, as they try to dislodge the notion that it was possible for these species to share a time together on earth. Also really complicates trying to get young kids to grasp geologic time spans--which was already plenty hard enough. These dumb clucks in the studio could have come up with another plot for Ice Age 3. Sheeesh. Un sch ool 18:46, 17 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I predict that, a year after this movie comes out, that there will be a section on the perceived impact of this movie's inhistoricity upon the classroom. Unless, of course, it's even stupider than the plot would indicate, and no one watches it. We can only hope. Un sch ool 18:51, 17 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Adding dinosaurs surely was controversial, but come to think about it, it's no difference if there was made a movie about talking animals in the ice age period in which they find an underground world with dinosaurs than a movie in the 21st century with people that find an underground world with dinosaurs. You should consider that it's not easy to come up with an idea for a movie in which the characters can only walk, making a sequel to Ice Age is like 15 times harder than a sequel to more human characters like Kung Fu Panda and Shrek. 201.173.220.73 (talk) 04:56, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Guanlong or Dilong

[edit]

In this page's summary, it states that Ellie was being attacked by a pack of Dilong. However, in the character page, it says that Peaches was born during a raid of Guanlong. Exactly which of these two T. Rex ancestors were attacking? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.172.178.127 (talk) 19:12, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

According to the website, the attackers were Guanlong, which they most closely resemble. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.36.139.179 (talk) 17:05, 24 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

{{editsemiprotected}} Can someone please add this too the Scat and Scatte part?

Like the previous Ice Age films, the film opens with the saber-toothed squirrel Scrat (Chris Wedge), who does everything he can to retrieve his precious acorn. This time, he falls in love with his female counterpart Scratte (Karen Disher), with the song "You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine" by Lou Rawls playing in the background, but an acorn appears instead after the music stops. The two fight over the acorn with Scatte is floung off the ground. As Scrat tries to save her, the two hold onto the acorn and the music starts back. Suddenly, she demonstrats her ability to glide like a flying squirrel, leaving Scrat falling to the ground. The two eventually fall in love after Scrat saves her from falling to her death in the lava river while she is unconscious. He even chooses to focus his attention on her instead of the acorn until the end of the film, when he tires of her finicky nature and reverts to his old ways. The ensuing fight between the couple leads to a volcanic explosion that hurls Scrat and the acorn back to the surface, leaving Scratte trapped underground. However, as Scrat is about to enjoy his acorn, a stray piece of ice falls on him and knocks the acorn back into Scratte’s hands. He screams in frustration, having lost both his acorn and Scratte.

Also please move the Real D info to the Development section, and change that section to Production and remove the expand tag. I also want "The film was opened to mixed reviews. As of august 12, Rotten Tomatoes reported that 44% of critics gave positive reviews based on 140 reviews with an average score of 5.4/10" changed to "The film received mixed reviews from critics. As of August 12, 2009, Rotten Tomatoes reported that 44% of critics gave positive reviews based on 140 reviews with an average score of 5.4/10". Then remove the Scat and Scatte part from the plot section at the begining, it belongs in the subplot, not the mainplot. Thanks,

Benny the squrial —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.90.104.26 (talkcontribs) 02:44, 12 September 2009

I recomend that the Scat and Scatte part be done next, then the Real D, production, and I see the sussion boxes should be removed too. And I reported the user resonsable for the Robin Hood vandalism. So please block Taylor the Giraffe (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) after fixing this page, and revert his Robin Hood edit, although the part about The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood is apperently correct. BR Audio Issues

[edit]

I have an LG BD370 connected via HDMI to a Samsung LN40B630 TV. We've played a dozen BR discs with no problems, until Ice Age: DotD. With default settings (PCM Stereo over HDMI) the audio during the movie (not menus though) is overdriven and distorted to the point of physical pain. After calling the number on the disc, they said exchange it (I said for what, an identical copy?). So I played around with settings for an hour or two and discovered DTS Re-Encode for HDMI needs to be on. This may be a problem with the disc itself, it may be the LG player, the TV, or some combination of the above. Again, we've played at least a dozen discs without issue thus far, so my blame-o-meter goes towards Ice Age.

Just a PSA. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.26.205.253 (talk) 15:57, 28 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A respectful Request for researchers

[edit]

Folks, I am searching for more tie-ins. My generation--1970s--grew up in the science fiction and fantasy concept of Pellucidar, the world beneath the world. I don't know if this fantasy genre has fallen out of favor, but it was the first thing my family "saw" at the promos, and we would relish the contributions of fans in this genre inside this movie. We all found it rich and supportive; my 9-yr old was delighted to ID the dino-species in the movie. He did rattle off the names of species I never heard of, but he was inspired by the baronyx and the Guanlong to do his own research. For that alone he deserves his own time with this film! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Karstwater (talkcontribs) 05:22, 29 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unidentified Dinos

[edit]

Can anyone answer a few of these questions for me. What the heck were those stegosaurids that Buck drives off along with the Iguanodon, Pachycephalosaurus, and Brachiosaurus. They looked truly bizarre, like a cross between Stegosaurus, Kentrosaurus, and maybe some kind of sauropod. Also, what species did that ceratopsid family belong to. I want to say Torosaurus but I'm not 100% sure. And what about those little purple theropods, Pelecanimimus?, Troodon?. Audience Reception in the lead

[edit]

I've noticed in the lead section, there is a very thorough audience reception part, even though it isn't brought up in the rest of the article, there aren't any sources attached and it is preceded by a 'mixed critical reception' with nothing to back it up. Should this be removed? Just curious, as I don't think it should be in here. Thanks. TrueFilmBuff (talk) 04:57, 14 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
