what is this?

[edit]

i dont know how to describe it, im not very good at wikipedia, but it certainly does not belong in something resembling an encyclopedia. maybe weasel words? maybe npov? whatever.

"Thus Guru Sahib embraced death on..."

"The death of Guru Sahib changed the entire character of Sikhism radically from a passive people to courageous saint soldiers."

that type of thing.

'Guru' as honourifics

[edit]

Hello @Redtigerxyz, 'Guru' is indeed an honourifical term and usually these are removed from articles but according to WP:HONOURIFICS, "There are some exceptions: ... Where an honorific is so commonly attached to a name that the name is rarely found in English-language reliable sources without it, it should be included. For example, the honorific may be included for Mother Teresa." Arjan's name is presented with the term 'Guru' as a prefix in the vast majority of reliable sources and thus it is part of his common-name, so it is not necessary to remove the term 'Guru' from this article. MaplesyrupSushi, It is Common name, as such I am not suggesting to rename the article. Britannica uses "Guru Arjan" as well as "Arjan". Wikipedia's Guru Nanak calls him Nanak at many instances.--Redtigerxyz Talk 16:33, 11 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Redtigerxyz Okay, thank you for explaining. MaplesyrupSushi (talk) 17:27, 11 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
