Wikipedia as a resource

[edit]

The world of geospatial metadata needs a place where information and lessons learned can be posted and, more imporantly, found by users all over the world. I have read the various pages about content and I think Wikipedia is the perfect place for this sort of resource. Thoughts?

Merge ISO 19115?

[edit]

Yes, I think the ISO standard should be merged with this article. The ISO info isn't enough to stand on its own. Plus, it makes sense to have it as part of the bigger concept.

I totally disagree. ISO is only one of many geospatial data standards, including FGDC, OGC, and others - 128.183.166.135 (talk) 17:09, 16 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Disagree: ISO 19115 is one specification of many. +mt 22:59, 26 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No Definition

[edit]

This article completely missed the point - it does not provide a definition of geospatial metadata. Regardless of whether there is one accepted definition, the entire point of a wikipedia article is to explain the term in question. This article simply describes the standards associated with the usage and application of metadata. This is not acceptable in wiki form. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.1.223.173 (talkcontribs) 18:24, 25 June 2011

SpatioTemporal Asset Catalogs (STAC)

[edit]

It would be good to work https://stacspec.org/ into this wikipedia page.

See also the suggestion for a STAC entry here: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:STAC

There are probably several other efforts that are similar. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Goatbar (talkcontribs) 17:13, 23 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
