Teams

[edit]

MEXICO #1 I think they should include more leagues such as the Greek super League Russian premiere league Serbian league croatian league and the J league since it the best league in asia and also the japanese football team since there the highest ranked asian team

Licensing depends not only on EA wishes, but also on football federations. Japaneses will support Konami for sure, while some leagues maybe just don't want to give their licenses or ask too much money. We don't know the reasons. Ipinkbear (talk) 11:08, 6 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What about national teams? They missed a lot, start with Asia, I think Saudi Arabia, Iran, Japan and Iraq should be in the game. In Africa, what happened to Cote Divore? And in Americas, it will be nice if they add some teams as Cuba. They had to much European teams...

That's your opinion, and you're welcome to it, but this discussion isn't appropriate for this page. This page is for discussion about the article, not about the game itself. – PeeJay 19:02, 30 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Release date

[edit]

Why would Australia get the game before Europe and North America? Has anyone got sufficient evidence? 83.104.51.181 (talk) 20:09, 29 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

By the way Australia did get it infact it came out here september the 30th not out yet anywhere else maybe in weeks time in europe and america 2 days earlier then the anounced date

Yes go to http://www.gameswarehouse.com.au/longpage.asp?gameid=16409 and you'll find your evidence

offline Be A Pro Mode will last for 4 seasons

[edit]

What? Only 4 seasons? Is this real? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.139.100.48 (talk) 19:38, 29 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

yes, it's real. Ipinkbear (talk) 21:05, 29 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Leagues and tournaments

[edit]

I removed this. It only included that David Rutter had confirmed that the Australian A-League would be in the new game even though the A-League had previously been featured in Fifa 08. So this has been temporarily removed.

Do NOT post here ANY info about leagues until it's 100% confirmed from EA - EA ONLY!--You grazhny bratchny (talk) 07:04, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, buddy. I reverted all the edits to last 100% confirmed version, it's more informative than just "no info was published". —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ipinkbear (talkcontribs) 07:18, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've found a video on youtube where several leagues and teams from Rest of the World can be seen in the menu of the game. I don't know how reliable is the info because it can be a demo; they are not talking in english or spanish so I do not know what they are saying. I guess we can say those leagues are 100% confirmed, but not the rest of the world teams. Here is the link:[1]--You grazhny bratchny (talk) 06:28, 6 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Serbia

[edit]

Is Serbia in the game? 16:12, 2. July 2008 (UTC)

No teams have been confirmed yet. --86.163.115.227 (talk) 19:58, 4 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The A-League has been confirmed in an interview, but that's the only one I'm aware of. matt91486 (talk) 20:15, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The A- League was in the previous game (see above). Serbia had been in the last version so presumably yes they'd be in the new one. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.55.243.221 (talk) 15:39, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, Serbia was NOT in FIFA 08, but in FIFA 07. Does anyone know if Serbia will be available in FIFA 09? I know the UEFA Euro 2008 game did not have the player names or association crest licensed. // laughing man 02:16, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
We don't know yet, no club/national team list was announced. Ipinkbear (talk) 05:11, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks pinkbear, wasn't sure if any details were released yet. It seem they typically every year EA doesn't like to announce too much information on national teams before the game is released. // laughing man 17:34, 6 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

what about red star and partizan? pes takes the cake in this category.. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.183.185.240 (talk) 15:41, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well I got an answer to all the questions. Serbia national team is not included (nor are Red Star or Partizan). It looks like we'll have to wait for the EA FIFA World Cup 2010 game. Very disappointing since FIFA 07 included the Serbia national team but since then have yet to return in an EA licensed game. // laughing man 01:52, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Suggested Improvements"

[edit]

I'm removing this section. crystal balling, unsourced and by NO means a fair representation of what people want to see in the game. Also dreadfully written and overall contributes nothing to the article. 86.133.231.211 (talk) 12:58, 6 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

user celebrations

[edit]

where it says they will be included i have written as seen in euro 08 as this was the first game to implement them. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 222.155.200.109 (talk) 18:49, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to make the comment on this that the line in the article: "FIFA 09 will also feature user-controlled player celebrations, like in UEFA Euro 2008, for the first time.[7] This, however, is on NextGen consoles only." is incorrect, since there's no reason to call the Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii next gen consoles, since they are current gen consoles and have been for two years now. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Can-o-Mark (talkcontribs) 10:52, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Next-gen is used everywhere to talk about PS3 and Xbox360. As there is no 8th generation of consoles - it stays next-gen, while PS2 or PC (as for EA) - is Current Gen —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ipinkbear (talkcontribs) 11:14, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That's completely incorrect though. Just because there is no 8th generation right now doesnt mean the 7th generation is next gen. That's like saying today is tomorrow because tomorrow has yet to come. Also, the wikipedia article of the 7th generation of consoles clearly states: "In the history of video games, the seventh generation, which is also the current generation, primarily focuses on the consoles released since 2004 by Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony.". 86.83.254.201 (talk) 22:02, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You may be right (or wrong) for choosing term, but there is i thing we can't use in Wiki: WP:NOR. While term next-gen is used everywhere for Xbox360 and PS3 - wiki can't start naming them current-gen, it will cause great misunderstanding for people who are reading. BUT, if you really want to change it, you can find needed citations from reliable sources, that these consoles must be named only as current-gen and not next-gen. After that you should make a request for Administrators (for example here: WP:RSN) and if your proofs will be accepted in open discussion - "next-gen" term will be changed to current-gen in all the articles. --Ipinkbear (talk) 05:37, 6 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I understand that. Wiki however already uses the term current gen in numerous articles. Including the 7th generation article, the Xbox 360 article, the Wii article and some other game related articles. Whereas a quick search through numerous game related articles yielded no results for the term next gen. Can-o-Mark (talk) 19:40, 6 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
However incorrect it may be, it is still the most commonly used term to distinguish between 6th & 7th generation consoles. It's the same way that "PIN Number" is a phrased used EVERYWHERE despite the fact that 'PIN' means 'Personal Identification Number'...everyone is saying "Personal Identification Number Number" but that is still commonly used. It's just one of those things, but at the moment there is no better way of distinguishing between the 6th & 7th generation as those terms aren't familiar. So 'Next-gen' is correct usage in terms of understanding DJDannyP//Talk2Me 22:10, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
However, if you were to look at the Wikipedia article for PIN you will see that the phrase "PIN number" is used nowhere in the article, apart from the English language use section. So even though Next-gen may be a common term, it is incorrect. And since Wikipedia is a place to get informed, not misinformed, it is only logical and correct to change it. Can-o-Mark (talk) 22:22, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
My example was merely to show that mistakes can still become commonly recognised, rather than that it happens on wikipedia. However in this instance my point remains. If you start talking about 6th and 7th gen consoles then the majority of people won't understand and one key factor of an encyclopaedia is understandibility. Next-gen is the acceptable (and most commonly used) term for 7th gen consoles, whether it is 100% correct or not is virtually literary semantics DJDannyP//Talk2Me 23:42, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I don't doubt that people understand that the article refers to the 7th generation when talking about the next generation. But at the same time people will perfectly understand the term current gen. And even if it makes a question mark apear above their head, a quick click on the word 'current-gen' will direct them to the 7th gen article and everything will be clear. Can-o-Mark (talk) 19:40, 6 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Release dates

[edit]

The only info i've seen - it's "Autumn 2009" on fifa09.com and Amazon.co.uk accepts pre-orders for this game for 3rd october. So i remove September and change it to October, for all regions. And if you want to change it back to Sempember, or to November, or anything else - provide a link for confirmation, untill that it will be a vandalism. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ipinkbear (talkcontribs) 15:42, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Amazon.co.uk and other retailers shouldn't be used as sources for release dates. See WP:VG/DATE: "For unreleased games, vendor sites should not be used as verifiable sources since their date is likely based on their best estimate of when the game is to be out; always look for corroborating statements from reliable sources to confirm these dates." --Silver Edge (talk) 21:05, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Agree with you, my friend, but Amazon is not a source. Is just ONE OF confirmations. We can use official "Autumn" but i still suggest "October" cuz of retailers, cuz demo will be released in middle September (which means at least half-month till full release) and Gamespot says it is 14 October - http://uk.gamespot.com/pc/sports/fifasoccer09/tech_info.html?om_act=convert&om_clk=gssummary&tag=summary;techinfo , which is NA release date). So would you more like October or Autumn? Ipinkbear (talk) 21:34, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Leave it as October, since other sources such as GameSpot and IGN list October as well. --Silver Edge (talk) 21:45, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

All regions get it at the same time? Even though football is much more popular in Europe than America? That would not make sense. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.55.243.221 (talk) 15:42, 17 July 2008 (UTC) Also Nascar 08 was released in North America as it is more popular in North America that other territories. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.55.243.221 (talk) 15:45, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As nothing other is still announced - we use this date: October for all regions. Ipinkbear (talk) 16:17, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Excuse me but where has this release date come from? The American NFL game is coming out in just 6 days time the 09 version yet FIFA 09 it still appears unconfirmed. Where you have this idea of the game coming out in October I have no idea apart from perhaps past releases. I don't think that is enough to go on. The official site says nothing nor EA's main page. It is wrong and false to pin up hopes for persons when the game may not be released in October. I can also confirm that at a Birmingham City FC football match a match ball had FIFA 09 written on. The game was played on the 9th August 2008. I agree that football is far more popular in Europe and think it will be released in Europe first over American states. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.104.51.181 (talk) 18:57, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The source for dates is provided in the article. It can be changed, if new information appears. Ipinkbear (talk) 05:57, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Soundtrack Announced and posted incompletely, requesting someone to help finish

[edit]

http://www.fifa09.ea.com/us/readnews/entryid/25050 I've added most of it to the article, requesting someone to finish the list. Manofedit2 (talk) 04:14, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Thank you! Ipinkbear (talk) 08:20, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, it was midnight and my arms and back was getting sore from all the typing (not just this list, other stuff as well). Manofedit2 (talk) 12:44, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

ok, what im saying has nothing to do with the game, but Sam Sparro is in the soundtrack. He's an Aussie based in the UK. Where does the U.S come in? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.217.135.194 (talk) 16:21, 17 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You are probably right - Sam Sparro. But it's listed as USA in Electronic Arts press-release... looks strange. So what should we do, guys, your thoughts? Ipinkbear (talk) 21:49, 17 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Maurice Edu is on his way to the Rangers... will they change the cover?

[edit]

So with Edu on his way to the Rangers whats gonna happen to the cover? This might not be finalized but if or when it is are they going to change the cover?

http://www.globesports.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20080815.wspt-tfc-update-15/GSStory/GlobeSportsSoccer/home —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.17.167.114 (talk) 21:55, 17 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No info about it yet. The transfer is not yet done, so it's too early to talk about it. And EA can make downloadable covers, just like they did with Madden NFL 09. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ipinkbear (talkcontribs) 00:16, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
They will change the cover; he will be in US National Team jersey. "While Edu has a slightly tinier American profile than Brett Favre, the cover image we were provided previously will not be the one that the game will ship with. We've been told by EA that the game will ship with a new cover that features Edu in a US Men's National Team jersey instead." http://sports.ign.com/articles/900/900073p1.html. matt91486 (talk) 20:59, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ronaldihno on all covers

Ronaldinho is in all covers. What about saying that and then just add names of the other players and the country of the cover they appear in.--You grazhny bratchny (talk) 08:08, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's a good idea, could you re-write that paragraph? Or i'll do it myself, but a bit later, i have to go now. Thanks. Ipinkbear (talk) 08:11, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Done.--You grazhny bratchny (talk) 08:35, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cover

[edit]

Thanks for your contribution, but your image is dupe, there is already one used in Wiki. You still can resize it and crop "XBox360" side to make it just an image not assosiated with any platform. It would be much more aprreciated then just uploading another dupe picture. Thanks. Ipinkbear (talk) 15:39, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Demo

[edit]

The demo is out on PC, 2 days earlier. http://eu.llnet.eadownloads.ea.com/u/f/easports/fifa/fifa09/fifa09_demo_eu.exe We can see at the begigning the logos of the leagues, and that can be a confirmation.--You grazhny bratchny (talk) 00:14, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Exactly. Please, don't add the link to the article, Wiki is not the source to get the demo - i've added the link to the article about it, so everyone who is interested could get it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ipinkbear (talkcontribs) 09:02, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Stadiums

[edit]

Please, provide links, if adding the stadiums included to the game.

It's not confirmed that ALL the stadiums from FIFA 08 will still be in the 09 version, so do not put them in the article please, maybe some stadiums could be deleted because their licenses had finished after 08. Ipinkbear (talk) 15:08, 24 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
how come this stadiums list can be correct when it has been on wikipedia for months that there will be 15 new stadiums? explain please.
i personally have no confirmation on stadium list. i have not added them. Ipinkbear (talk) 08:46, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Here is a list. The forum is under PS3/XBox360 but you suspect that if they have made the graphics for them the graphics will go onto the current gen platforms as well. http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/fifa-09-sony-playstation-3-microsoft-xbox-360/342436-stadiums-confirmed.html

Some unsorted comments

[edit]

hi, i think this article should be more about the game, not just the features on the wii version, it sounds very unbalenced, like a nintendo rep wrote it or something.

I think thats because the Wii version of the game has been the most updated out of the other consoles. Either that, or that the Wii information was released before the other console versions.--Mrrko (talk) 11:49, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Added new information. KiNgFrOmHeLl (talk) 20:26, 30 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Where on earth is the Welsh National side in this game????

You can't tell me that they have songs from Welsh artists, the Welsh national stadum and no Wales in the game!!!!

As Britain is one of EA's biggest selling merchants, you think they would have the respect to put all the nations in the game. Zacitty (talk) 18:18, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Release date for Australia

[edit]

First of all, please, be polite, you should not talk in offencive way. Next, the release date is 2nd October, which was confirmed by Australian GameSpot - http://au.gamespot.com/xbox360/sports/fifasoccer09/index.html?tag=result;title;1. You provided link to amazon which could not be accepted, as 1) shops are not reliable sources for release dates, as per WP:VG/GL ; 2) Amazon is american shop and provides american dates. For example amazon.co.uk is for UK and has European release dates. There is no Australian amazon, so we can't accept amazon.com in any way. --Ipinkbear (talk) 20:11, 25 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Today's edit war

[edit]

I've fully protected this article for 12 hours due to massive edit waring by various individuals. Please stop it, and work out whatever the dispute is below. Thank you. lifebaka++ 16:11, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe protecting from editing from anonymous IPs should be on this article at least till official release in US - 14 October? I'm also working now on the last version of "leagues" list. It would be full and complete, done as it's shown in the game. I'll put it in my Temp section till the page will be unblocked. Thanks. --Ipinkbear (talk) 19:30, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The dispute is pretty much people putting leagues (and other false information) knowing that they are not in the game. I would not call it an edit war (I don't exactly know what defines an edit war) just fixing the stuff that is obviously wrong. (And in one case put that info box on the right of the page back up Craig Woods (talk) 16:21, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

As wiki in general and games project particulary do not like youtube links - let's not post it. There is no need to post it in the article, we know it's a legit list of leagues, we have the link and we made our edits based on it, but we can leave the article without that link. And please, be polite, don't start another edit war - talk on this page. Ipinkbear (talk) 13:01, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ok. Zacitty (talk) 13:02, 29 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

official stadiums list

[edit]
I have just put up an official stadium list. Cant tell you my source but it needs to be sorted into countries. Not sure why the millenium stadium is on there when the only team that plays there, Wales, is not in the game.

White Hart Lane

[edit]

White Hart Lane is in the PS2 version of the game. Is it on any other versions?

Presumably those with the same graphic styles, eg the PSP. By the way, please make an account and sign your name when before using talk pages. Then, you can be notified if if anything you have asked has been answered. Zacitty (talk) 16:00, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The White Hart Lane is included in the PC version of FIFA 09 as well. I think it should be added to the list of stadiums, however with a note that it is not included on all versions of the game. /Sir Lex (talk) 09:28, 24 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Or, you yourself could make a list of stadiums on the PS2. Zacitty (talk) 12:36, 24 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Adidas Live Season

[edit]

In the Wikipedia article, it states that the ALS delivers the changes to six of the leagues in the game. However, in the game itself, it says it does 30 leagues.

It also says that the price of the ALS (on the Xbox 360) is 1,600 Microsoft Points. MightyJordan (talk) 17:05, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My adidas live was free and I'm pretty sure there were only 6 leagues available ——Possum (talk) 17:22, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, you get one season for free, and you only get to pick from either 5 or 6 leagues, but the complete package contains 30 leagues. MightyJordan (talk) 20:05, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

OK, my bad. You're more than welcome to change it. If you can verify it, there no reason why you can't change it, that's what a wiki is :) ——Possum (talk) 20:20, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

you sir are talking bull, or are mis informed. adidas live season only features the premier league, spanish league, italian league, mexican league, and a couple of others, live season does not feature 30leagus, the game does, butlive season does not update all 30, only 6 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 222.155.226.99 (talk) 10:11, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

There are not many in game differences than to the PS3 apart from the fact that the game is missing the feature to create a team, however a plus side is that you get to practice your skills while it loads.

practice skills while itloads, not very good style of writing for an encyclopedia style piece —Preceding unsigned comment added by 222.155.226.99 (talk) 10:15, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Where is the Xbox 360 information?

[edit]

It has information for every other console except Xbox 360. This is biased.

I'd say it's more the case that the Xbox 360 version is being used as the baseline version to which all other versions are being compared. – PeeJay 15:52, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Use of Flags to describe leagues.

[edit]

I was looking through the talk pages of FIFA 08, and found and edit war going on about the use of the Flag of Canada on the MLS page, and the use of the flag of NI (northern Ireland), but there appears to be representation of Derry FC, which is a Northern Irish team, but would like to know wheter or not the said team will be in the FIA League, and would like to know whether or not this is related to the fact that people from NI are considered to be Irish, or British, and would like clarification as to this.BrendanKBOT (talk) 01:00, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Kit Clashing

[edit]

I'm surprised the article doesn't mention the problem of kit clashing or is this something that only happens with the Wii version? It only happens in Manager Mode - where the home team wears the home strip and away team wears the away strip by default. Unfortunately sometimes these are identical, and there is no option to change the strips (e.g. both teams wearing home strips) as there is for friendly matches. For those matches the game is almost unplayable. Does this happen on the PS or Xbox versions? Stulock holmes (talk) 11:33, 21 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

On the Xbox version, the game attempts to choose kits that shouldn't clash, but sometimes uses the alternate kit unnecessarily (i.e. when the home kit would not have clashed). Fortunately, we have the option to choose the kits that each team should use prior to the game starting. – PeeJay 11:37, 21 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

PC's version Game Controller Issue

[edit]

Some people have reported that their game controller has not been properly detected or recognised by FIFA 09 pc version, (especially not very famous/well-known or brand name controllers) that led to some buttons on game controller can not be assigned nor customised/configured and some other issues.

A fix has been devised and discussed by users on an ongoing basis here:

Game Modes

[edit]

In 2008 there was no dynasty mode, regular or online, at least there wasn't on the PS2 version. Is there a dynasty mode in 2009?Limasbravo (talk) 20:08, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There is a dynasty mode-like mode in FIFA 09. It's called "Manager Mode" and it was also in FIFA 08 (at least, it was on the PC and 360 versions). – PeeJay 23:47, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I figuered it out. The old game mode name was "career mode", but apparently "Manager Mode" is what's it's called now (I don't buy FIFA every year). Someone I know was saying Manager Mode you don't play the games, that you just watch the games, so I've never tried manager mode. Last night I found out that is wrong and that Manager Mode is the former career mode, you can get promoted and relegated. Limasbravo (talk) 12:12, 5 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wii version does not include national teams

[edit]

I think its quite important for it to be noted that the Wii version does not include any National Teams at all. I would think that is quite an important fact. It was part of the reason i purchased FIFA 09 for the Wii, only to return it when i found out there are no national teams on that version. So who keeps removing those facts from the article? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Moreleave1 (talkcontribs) 23:27, 5 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't believe the PC version has national teams either. 203.122.101.54 (talk) 12:01, 15 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I cannot believe that EA Sports would not include national teams in these versions of the game, especially since the Miis of Ronaldinho and Wayne Rooney are wearing their national team kits on the cover of the Wii version. – PeeJay 12:22, 15 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Wii is just a bounch of baloney. – Michael (talk) 02:32, 18 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I can confirm that the Wii version does not incude the national teams. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fifaplayer (talkcontribs) 11:37, 20 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Are you a reliable source? – PeeJay 12:45, 20 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The Wii version does have national teams, but I'm not a reliable source either. - Dudesleeper / Talk 04:35, 7 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

League Sorting

[edit]

Not sure if this should be added or not, but isn't FIFA09 the first time the leagues are sorted alphabetically by league name, instead of alphabetically by country name? This is the first time I can remember Italy's Serie A being sorted as Serie A, instead of Italy. Most of the other leagues are sorted by league name as well. The official league names EA has had for a number of years, but they've always been sorted by country name prior to FIFA09 I believe. The only league I can remember being sorted by league name before this was Major League Soccer. Limasbravo (talk) 17:30, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

FIFA Soccer 09 All-Play (Wii version)

[edit]

Ronaldinho (in a Milan shirt) is featured on his lonesome on the cover of the Wii version of the game. Not sure this is clear (if stated at all) in the introduction, since it isn't too easy to follow. - Dudesleeper / Talk 19:19, 22 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Romania fake?

[edit]

When i played as Romania i saw real players. Since i own the Xbox 360, is it possible that Romania is licensed on FIFA 09 Xbox 360?--67.180.213.149 (talk) 21:02, 21 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Recent revision on July 9th

[edit]

I'm not entirely sure why the revision on July 9th was made. I thought a lot of the stuff deleted was interesting and helpful. I see you kept the leagues and covers in, just moved them around. However you deleted the individual teams, stadia, and the non-English commentators. I wasn't quite sure that it merited deletion. If it could be, I would like it to be added back in. I thought it was quite interesting and helpful information, and wasn't really completely sure why it was taken out. Not trying to get on anyones bad side, just trying to improve Dbrain64 (talk) 16:10, 11 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, the reason I removed the lists is that lists are generally not allowed per the video game project article guidelines. Basically whether we can list something depends on its importance to the game and the necessity of listing it, so all lists must be justified as they are not the proper way of constructing an encyclopedia article. In various discussions on both individual articles' talk pages and at WT:VG the consensus seems to be that for games such as FIFA, leagues are OK, being the most important of the things usually listed, and soundtracks may be OK depending on whether they have had a separate soundtrack release. Other things should be written about in prose in the usual manner. Cheers, Miremare 17:15, 11 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, okay then. Thank you for making the guidelines a bit more clear for me as I'm sort of new to wikipedia. Is there any way the information would be able to be included even if it was in prose? Dbrain64 (talk) 21:59, 11 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
If you can write a prose section based on any of the removed info, please do. It's often quite difficult to do though, as with stadiums for example there's not really much to say other than to list them, which I guess is why sports games tend to attract lists. We can always link to more in-depth info and lists, such as the source used to cite the foreign language commentators, which itself lists all of them. Miremare 23:54, 11 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
How was that? (although I think I may not have done the references correctly.) Dbrain64 25th of July, 15:55 (UTC)
Good, though I've changed the reference for you, as forum posts are generally not allowed as sources unless the post has been made by someone associated with the game, such as a developer or official spokesperson. Cheers, Miremare 18:25, 25 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Cool, thanks for the help! Dbrain64 25th of July, 19:48 (UTC)
