Hi, I'm starting this review, comments should be below soon! Kingsif (talk) 01:16, 17 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Style

[edit]
  • 'Other' section looks tiny surrounded by everything else, but seems to be nothing to resolve that
  • Standard layout of sections, especially subsections under career
  • Well written with strong voice, though sometimes this slips into a programme run-down (Television section, mostly) that could be varied (first tip would be to lose the episode-length mentions)
  • Good grammar; perhaps where there is a mistake in quotes could add "(sic)"
    • Perhaps you're referring to: takes the natural course from irritatingly vibrant neighbour to having a sympathetic, misunderstood circumstances for his enthusiasm. I think "circumstance" should be singular so I've made that change—per MOS:QUOTE, "trivial spelling and typographic errors should simply be corrected without comment... unless the slip is textually important." — Bilorv (talk) 11:46, 17 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Sensible progression between sentences, paragraphs, and between topics.
  • The article is perhaps too to-the-point.
  • Pass - but certainly could be improved if you want to work at it

Coverage

[edit]
  • Lead good length for article
  • Lead gives good overview
  • Early life short but hits on everything significant.
  • Mentions of the awards are a bit repetitive, based on how short the article is. Otherwise, standard to appear in lead, in relevant career section, and in awards table, but here there's little room between lead and career. Not actionable, but perhaps consider shortening the mention in the lead.
  • Bit excessive in terms of description of Bandersnatch, especially with little coverage of his character and response.
  • Needs attention - I feel there is much more coverage of his character in Bandersnatch, given how popular it was. The coverage on this appearance should by default be bigger than most of his appearances on secondary British TV shows.
    • Unfortunately, I've done a fair bit of checking and I can't find one single review that comments on Chaudhry's acting or character. They all focus very heavily on the choose-your-own-adventure style of the film, on the writing and on Whitehead/Poulter. This is very unusual, considering the vast popularity of the show and abundance of reviews, but though the role for Chaudhry was a very significant one, there doesn't seem to be any coverage I can add of his character specifically.
I did, however, find one interview with Chaudhry about the role in Flickering Myth. Not sure if any of it is suitable to include here but two extracts strike me as potentially relevant:
      1. Plus I had that mask to protect my own feelings and ninety nine point nine percent of the stuff is positive and lovely, but you get to a point where you can’t read the comments. Don’t read the comments that’s what I say. Look at your numbers and go ok that did well and move on. But I’ve gotten racist stuff and all kinds of stuff and there are idiots out there.
      2. Yes I played it multiple times, got obsessed by flowcharts on-line along with my friends. You do this, you do that, all my friends are trying to find the version where Stefan kills me; bastards.
    • Bilorv (talk) 11:46, 17 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
      • I just did some digging myself, and besides a JOE.com article saying he retweeted a flowchart there is basically nothing! Wow! I do think the interview extracts you mention could be included, in something like: 'Chaudhry has said he has played Bandersnatch through, but not to the extent of his friends, who he says are fans of "trying to find the version where Stefan kills [his character]".' and 'Due to the popularity, Chaudhry has faced online abuse; in an interview he said that though "99.9% of the stuff is positive and lovely", he has also received racist comments.' Kingsif (talk) 15:51, 17 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
        • Alright, I've added the following text: Chaudhry received racist comments following the episode, but said of the online response that "99.9% of the stuff is positive and lovely". He commented that he and his friends have all played through the film multiple times.Bilorv (talk) 17:19, 17 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Illustration

[edit]
  • No images, it could do with one. Preferably free, but I see no reason why fair use wouldn't count to add one to the article - not actionable given relatively short length and no commons images
    • Fair use images of living people aren't allowed per WP:NFCCP#1, "no free equivalent is available, or could be created". I've even tried contacting Chaudhry's agent to see if they were willing to license a free image of Chaudhry, to no avail. I don't really want to add only images that aren't Chaudhry because I think the first image on the page is shown on a hovercard wherever Asim Chaudhry is linked to, and it would be misleading for, say, an image of Stephen Merchant to appear on that hovercard. — Bilorv (talk) 11:46, 17 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Tables appropriate and formatted to standard
  • Pass

Verifiability

[edit]
  • Good selection of RS
  • Everything cited in line
  • Pass

Stability

[edit]
  • Nothing big since the nom except adding work that happened in that time.
  • Pass

Neutrality

[edit]
  • Uses both positive and negative reviews of his performances, and seems to establish what the general consensus among critics was
  • Pass
