List of current champions in Ring of Honor

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ring of Honor (ROH) is an American professional wrestling promotion based in Jacksonville, Florida. Title reigns are either determined by professional wrestling matches or are awarded to a wrestler as a result of the culmination of various scripted storylines.

There are currently seven championships in ROH. There are three singles and one tag team championship, and one six-man tag team championship for male wrestlers, while there are two singles championship for female wrestlers.

As of August 1, 2024, ten wrestlers officially hold championships. This list includes the number of times the wrestler has held the title, the date and location of the win, and a description of the winning bout.[1]

Overview

[edit]

The American professional wrestling promotion Ring of Honor (ROH) promotes several professional wrestling championships for its men's and women's divisions. ROH often broadcasts championship matches on their weekly streaming television program, Honor Club, while also regularly being featured on programs of sister promotion All Elite Wrestling (AEW). Major championship defenses also occur at ROH's and AEW's periodic pay-per-view events.

Men

[edit]

At the top of ROH's championship hierarchy for male wrestlers is the ROH World Championship. It is held by first-time champion Mark Briscoe, who defeated Eddie Kingston at Supercard of Honor on April 5, 2023.

The secondary title for male wrestlers is the ROH World Television Championship, which is held by first-time champion Atlantis Jr.. He defeated Kyle Fletcher on June 28, 2024, at CMLL Super Viernes to win the title.

The ROH Pure Championship is a specialty championship, featuring matches being conducted under "Pure Wrestling Rules".[2] It is held by record three-time champion Wheeler Yuta, who defeated Katsuyori Shibata on AEW Rampage on November 25, 2023.

The ROH World Tag Team Championship is ROH's traditional tag team title, being contested by teams of two wrestlers. It is held by The Undisputed Kingdom (Mike Bennett and Matt Taven), who are in their third reign, both as a team and individually. Wrestling under the guise of The Devil's Masked Men, they defeated MJF (defending the title on behalf of himself and injured partner Adam Cole) in a handicap match on December 27, 2023, at AEW Dynamite: New Year's Smash. They would subsequently reveal their identities three nights later at AEW's Worlds End.

The ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship is a title contested by teams of three wrestlers, also referred to as trios. The title is held by the team of Dustin Rhodes and The Von Erichs (Marshall Von Erich and Ross Von Erich), who are in their first reign, both as a team and individually. They won the vacant title by defeating The Undisputed Kingdom (Roderick Strong, Matt Taven, and Mike Bennett) on July 27, 2024, at AEW's Battle of the Belts XI. Previous champions Bang Bang Gang (Jay White, Austin Gunn, and Colten Gunn) were stripped of the title due to a (storyline) injury to White and being denied their request to have stablemate Juice Robinson defend the title under the Freebird Rule.

Women

[edit]

ROH has two championships for its women's division. The primary title is the ROH Women's World Championship, which is held by first-time champion Athena. She defeated Mercedes Martinez at Final Battle on December 10, 2022.[3]

The secondary title for the women's division is the ROH Women's World Television Championship. It is held by Billie Starkz, who defeated Queen Aminata in the finals of 16-woman tournament to become the inaugural champion on April 5, 2024, at Supercard of Honor.
