WISHLIST AXIAL NULL ON STEAM

I am proud to announce that the sequel of this game, AXIAL NULL, is currently in development! Think of it as the full version AXIAL: Prototype with better roguelike, more playable characters, bosses, and more contents.

Click here to open AXIAL NULL on Steam, and wishlist it if you're interested!

====================

AXIAL: Prototype is an experimental hybrid tactical roguelike, combining both Turn-based and Real-time element into its core gameplay. Immerse yourself into The Void, erasing as many Anomalies as you can in a grid-based combat inspired by Megaman Battle Network series!

ACTION PHASE

During ACTION PHASE, you are free to consider your options with no time limit. You may do one of the following:

  • Do basic ATTACK with no cost
  • Do SKILLS at the cost of your Mental Points (MP)
  • Use ITEMS to aid yourself in combat
  • CHARGE to recover more MP

After you do one action, BATTLE PHASE will commence.

BATTLE PHASE

During BATTLE PHASE, enemies will actively attack you in real-time.

  • MOVE in 4 directions (up, down, right, and left) as long as you stay inside unbroken light-colored tiles
  • Do basic ATTACK by pressing Z key

After 10 seconds have passed, ACTION PHASE will commence again, and the cycle continues.

After the -EMX- splash screen all I could see was a black screen (cursor visible, music still audible).

Not sure how to remedy this and proceed.

Download the "Alternative Windows/Linux" version!

Weirdly enough this black screen bug only happens on higher end PC, and I managed to work around it by simply re-exporting with higher graphic settings (it doesn't actually look any different though)

Can confirm that this worked.

1) It's pretty cool that you can still dodge projectiles even when pinned into a corner, by pressing the direction and the dodge frames still being active even though you get bumped back.

2) When it comes down to just you and the eyes it can just become a waiting game until you hit the Action Phase, as they rarely approach the front.

3) Those guys with the staves/orbital lasers are the most annoying by far, which is great, since it gives you an enemy to prioritise. Though, almost like the opposite of the eye they have a habit of approaching the front line and getting shanked to oblivion.

Thank you so much for playing my game!

Regarding 1) it is completely intentional ;) I don't want players who got stuck because of bad luck to be completely out of options to dodge

The enemy AI definitely could use some more improvement. Although, I didn't really have much time because my thesis' deadline was coming close, so I just made them move around at random

I'm glad you enjoyed the game!

Had fun =) good start for a prototype and excited to see where it leads! Made me think of megaman battle network! Keep up the amazing work and left a follow =) Your game is first in the video
