This recipe was published around the holidays a few years ago and when I was seeking a special cocktail to serve at a dinner party for twelve - well, this was it. I followed the recipe exactly (with all the all the brand name ingredients). Total hit with everyone. It's my go-to drink now. I follow the recipe but salt the rim (hey I'm Texan) and serve in a martini glass. Sometimes I give it a kick with an oz of Ancho Reyes Chile Liqueur (+ jalapeño simple syrup). Upscale margarita!
Too sweet. Would be better without (or with less) simple syrup
Very balanced cocktail with modern tiki vibes. This one's a hit.
This was delicious. A mix between a mezcal marg and a Mai tai. Yum!
We’re a household of Tiki drink purists and I was skeptical about this recipe but it delivered. The mezcal isn’t overpowering and added the delicately layered complexity that is usually the job of funky rums. I’m itching to try it with bacanora next time. Used Smith and Cross for the rum.
Very well balanced drink. For those who prefer drinks on the less sweet side, cut out the simple syrup and use a scant 1/2 oz of Orgeat
This was a fun drink! I did a little splash (1/2 tsp) of maple instead of simple syrup and figured the drink would be sweet enough without that. And it was good!
Subbed in lemon juice and added a honey lavender syrup! So good~!
Stuck at home during quarantine, "toasted almond syrup" was a bit difficult to find, so I substituted 1/2 tsp Nielsen Massey almond extract into 1/2 cup of simple syrup to make "almond syrup." It was still delicious. Looking forward to trying this with Oregeat Works when this is all over.
Just to let you know, I'm still producing orgeat these days. Hit up the website for the genuine article delivered to your door or head over to Leyenda for a TM to go! Stay well.
