Fill a mixing glass with ice. Pour in gin and vermouth. Stir for 30 seconds, then strain into an old-fashioned glass over fresh ice. Twist the lemon peel over the drink, then drop it in.

this is the perfect example of "forcing a square peg into a round hole." a martini on the rocks is an abomination. if it's too hot for a martini, drink something else - like a gin & tonic!
Use 1/4 of the vermouth to enjoy the full taste of the gin. I prefer Beefeater’s gin.
A martini gets an olive. Period. A vodka martini gets a twist, not gin.

What is the point of using a mixing glass? Why not just mix it in the cocktail glass?
