Yeah you generally can't get any responses back from the send http action, although this is something they have in the works.
Perhaps a run code step that replaces commas in the review contents with another character or url encodes them.
There's a little code icon next to the calendar icon in that input field. Try clicking that?

Hm not sure why it would result in fake barcodes. You should be able to pull metafields into the frontend with liquid if you want to.
