In my happy place this week. Just me, the dogs, and our quiet Palm Desert neighborhood. Treating myself to dinner and margaritas at my favorite Mexican spot on El Paseo. Later? Floating in the pool under the stars.
I’d absolutely love to see Apple TV+ do adaptations of some of my favorite books - The Dresden Files, Snow Crash, Anathem, Seveneves, etc.
In other news, the second time was the charm for my GPU. Then I ran into issues with my power supply. I swapped it out for a Corsair one, and now things are up and running. 🎉
Okay, now that I can get over 100fps on “Very High” settings on the Spider-Man games, I’m gonna have to replay them from the start. Such pretty games!
Hoo-boy, what a day in Formula 1 history. #Forza
I just read an article that listed Esteban Ocon as a viable option for Lewis’ vacated seat at Mercedes. They might as well have named the article “let’s name current F1 drivers in alphabetical order!”
Why did they call them “edible undies” when “fruit by the butt” was right there?
Cleo Abram has an incredible ability to explore technology from a human potential perspective. She’s an optimistic futurist, just as I am. Her take on the Apple Vision Pro is so insightful. This is the best video on AVP yet. https://youtu.be/n7hJlyVDEc8
I finished playing “Uncharted: The Lost Legacy” this week. I was skeptical that an Uncharted game would work without Nathan Drake. Boy, was I wrong. The story was compelling, the visuals absolutely stunning, and it provided just enough of a challenge.
I started Cyberpunk 2077, and it didn’t really pull me in. So, I’m trying out God of War, which looks amazing, but is pretty intense and dark. I’ll stick with it, but am really just killing time until Horizon: Forbidden West comes out on Steam in March.
This game is incredibly boring.
I’m late to the party, but boy does the SF-24 look amazing. Looks don’t win races, but those yellow and white go faster stripes? Gorgeous. I can’t believe the season is only a few weeks away! 🏎️
In other news, Lacey gets her port installed Monday morning and has her first chemo session one week later. She will receive infusions every two weeks for the next six months. 🙏🏼 #FuckCancer
⏰ 🏁 🏎️ 💨
Netflix’s password sharing system is really irritating if you split time between two cities. I get what they’re trying to prevent, but it is incredibly inconvenient for legitimate users. Being chained to home internet makes Netflix into old school cable TV.
The word “net” is literally in the name of the service. It’s not “Houseflix,” it’s Netflix. So, let me use the internet!
Anyway, I’ll just use Tailscale to route all of the traffic from my Apple TV in Palm Desert through my internet connection in Los Angeles. Eat it, Netflix. 🖕🏻
Jeebus, the SF-24 is a looker. 🏎️ 💃🏼🐴
I’m a big fan of Obsidian, and have been using it for several years, amassing quite a large vault of Markdown notes. But, the editing experience has never been my favorite. So, I spent some evenings making my LunarVim understand my vault.
Now I have full integration with my vault, including the ability to search it, create templated daily notes that automatically include my Google Calendar schedule, and manage tasks scattered throughout my vault. LunarVim is amazing.
My wife begins chemotherapy tomorrow. So, of course, our refrigerator decided to break, and something appears to have died in the wall of our living room and is stinking up the joint. Joy.
