Did a little project over the last few days. I ordered 100 square, dark grey sound baffling panels. Peel and stick. Lots of measuring and cutting, and now the big white wall that our projector screen is mounted on absorbs sound and light. The picture POPS now!
Is Michigan’s DL elite or is Bama’s OL mid?
It’s a shame that PyATV is the only implementation of the wild ecosystem of Apple’s media APIs. A Swift version would allow for native apps on macOS, iOS, and iPadOS to do some amazing things.
Michigan is beating Bama much more thoroughly than the score indicates. If they make fewer silly mistakes, it could easily be 14-0 or worse. Bama seems to be getting its footing now, so wasted opportunity to build a solid lead.
Michigan really is trying to overcome being the better team with absolutely foolish mistakes.
What a great game. For Michigan, it was nearly an epic choke, but they were so stout up front in the trenches.
You know the cool thing about today? Nothing. There is nothing cool about today. On to tomorrow and the tomorrows after that.
I’ve long hoped for a renaissance of personal websites and flourishing small federated online communities. It feels like we are on the verge of a tipping point. Thinking of several startups that may have caught on with better timing.
As I have shared, I’ve been working on a new platform for my website, built with Python, Flask, and DuckDB. Its fast, stores content on disk as JSON files, supports many “kinds” of content, IndieAuth, Micropub, etc. Its not open source, but I’d be curious to know if there are any develolpers out there who would be interested in collaborating. #IndieWeb
If there is sufficient interest, I’d love to find two or three other motivated developers to work with. I think I’m onto something, but its slow going on my own. I’ll get it to production eventually, but building a vibrant community is appealing to me. If you’re interested, hit me up. #IndieWeb

Thanks for all of the responses and encouragement about my website project. I’ve taken the step of scrubbing the repository of private information, and have published what I have here: https://github.com/cleverdevil/dwell
For clarity on Dwell, which is what I've named the website project, its very much in-progress and will need adjustment to be generalized. There isn't a `setup.py` or `requirements.txt` or any content samples yet. I'll work on getting the current working state up and running somewhere public so that folks can try it out and will publish my content directory at some point soon for reference.
Here is a repository with a recent dump of *all of my website content* (13,000+ posts over 20+ years). This content directory can be indexed by Dwell in a few seconds. I'll post what the site looks like using this content and the current version of Dwell shortly. https://github.com/cleverdevil/dwell-content-cleverdevil-io
Here is a development version of Dwell running with my website’s content. Take a look and compare it to my current site at cleverdevil.io. Note: maps will be broken-ish. Be gentle. http://107.20.103.83/ Even things like monthly summaries work: http://107.20.103.83/archive/2023/1
If you’re looking for talented Product Managers, Designers, Python developers, or Project/Agile Managers, let me know! I have a handful of amazing people that I want to help find great gigs.
See, I don’t mind you writing about DHH provided you refer to him as “noted fascist shitbird, DHH.” Like every time you mention him. Even in the same article.
Rams close out the season with two records for Puka, a win against SF on the road, and healthy starters. Can’t ask for much better. On to Detroit!
Jalen Ramsey is so overrated.
The cold open to the last episode of Letterkenny? Perfection. Man, I’m going to miss this show. At least we still have Shoresy.
Get off Substack, please. They’re a bunch of spineless, valueless cowards. Give your money, content, and eyeballs to someone else.
In other news, Michigan beat the actual snot out of UW. It wasn’t nearly as close as the score looks. Just an absolute destruction in all phases. Deserving champ.
I’ll never forgive Gene Haas for taking Guenther away from us. Sad day in #F1.
I’ve been thinking about my Dwell CMS project and how complex it is to stand up an #IndieWeb site that is highly portable. With my approach, I could very easily create a, self-contained, portable, #IndieWeb experience within a single container. 🤔
Good effort, but so sad to see this Rams team eliminated so early. Detroit is probably the better team, from a talent perspective, but I’ll take McVay over any coach in the league.
The good news: my son and I successfully built his gaming PC. The bad news: now I want to build myself a gaming PC.
Made some progress on Dwell over the last few nights. I now have a somewhat functional admin console protected by authentication with forms for publishing many types of content. Coming along!
A few weeks ago I switched my dev environment over to LunarVim, which has been a wonderful experience. Writing Python has never been so much fun!
I find it endlessly irritating that ebook readers no longer include microSD cards. My son likes to read manga, and I constantly have to swap out files on it because of the limited space.
The new Kaleido 3 color e-ink screens look amazing for reading comics, but not a single device out there has adequate storage. Maybe there is some weird option from China on AliExpress…
They should make Love on the Spectrum for the rest of time.
So, yeah, I just ordered the parts for my new gaming PC. I lasted like a week of my ten year old having a better setup than me. 😂
For the curious, this PC is intended to be a mega-console running ChimeraOS in my home theater. Highlights: * Fractal Ridge (white) * 7800X3D CPU * RX 7900 XTX GPU Details: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/cleverdevil/saved/#view=hnpH4D
I binged season one and two of Good Omens over the past few weeks. The first season was a delight. Season two was enjoyable, but certainly fell off a bit.
All of my PC parts have arrived, with the exception of the GPU, which was supposed to be delivered today but was delayed by Amazon. The CPU cooler I chose is also a bit too large for the motherboard. New cooler options ordered and arrive tomorrow. Hopefully the GPU comes tomorrow.🤞🏼
The good news is that my GPU finally shipped and is arriving today. The bad news is that I won’t be able to finish the build today because I accidentally ordered the low-end version of the CPU cooler. Submitted an order and that should arrive tomorrow. Inching closer :)
Well, this is fun. Amazon sent me a notification that my GPU had arrived. I opened the box, and inside, where the GPU should be was a seven pound weight and a ball of toilet paper. Hooray for thieves.
My wonderful daughter is becoming a teenager this weekend. Tonight, we are hosting eight teenage girls for a Taylor Swift themed party. To protect Lacey, we tested all the kids at the door, and she is staying in a hotel. I’m managing the sleepover party!
I’m rooting for “@fter midnight” to make it, as I genuinely miss the joy of “@midnight.” Two episodes in, and it feels a bit forced. Hopefully they find their footing.
Very excited about the potential for The Iconfactory’s new Kickstarter campaign for “Project Tapestry” https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/iconfactory/project-tapestry
The vision for “Project Tapestry” is very similar to the one we had for “Together” - https://alltogethernow.io - but with a native app. I do wish it supported bi-directional interaction with content, not just consumption. Together supports interactions such as “Like,” “Bookmark,” and “Reply” via MIcropub and syndication.
